Book rec with many unnecessary exclamation marks :D (tw for cults, gore, and death)

Dude I just finished reading this book and it’s actually amazing. Lots of gore and cults, so if that’s not your thing, I get it, but it’s so good bro. Our story follows trans boy Benji (we love trans boys!) after he escapes from the cult that raised him. This cult has killed the majority of the population and has turned the world into a sad apocalyptic mess (we love apocalypses in fiction!!). They have also turned him into a bio weapon, so just as he meets a group of survivors from the local LGBTQ youth center, (we love lonely gay people finding community!!) he suddenly has to worry about what the bio weapon inside of him will do to his new friends if he stays. Lots of queer and autistic rep (we love decent representation written by someone in the community!!) and some gore if you’re into that. (we love gore!!! Actually… maybe that one’s not quite as compelling… I love gore!!!!!!!) if this sounds interesting to you, definitely check it out! It’s vaguely mainstream, so I was able to find mine at Barnes and Noble, it if it’s not there, check online or possibly in a library.. I hate to say it, but it’s not the kind of thing you might see at your small local bookstore unfortunately. But go support your local bookstore anyway because we love supporting small businesses!!!!!!
