Kari | 914 comments Ohhhh, this is a super creepy clown, yuck!

message 52: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments IT is LOL

I haven't watched the movies - scary clowns are so not my thing, but I didn't realize It was an shapeshifting alien!

message 53: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Wow - so not my thing, lol. Thank you both, again, for going no pictures!

I've got L, C, and a W book coming up. I suspect I'm not going to like the W book much, but that's Turf Wars for you.

And I just saw that you've got an L book on the ss already, Teresa - go team go! I'll hold off on my L book a bit.

Oh but the pictures are part of the fun...

message 55: by Teresa (last edited Sep 06, 2024 06:51AM) (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments Actually, Tru - you go ahead with the L if I can have the C? I realized that I won't get to the L book until Monday at the earliest as it is on audio and it takes me longer than reading, and I'm only half way through my current one.

Snort. Yeah. No.

Creep, creepy, creepy....

Of course! That'll work just fine. We're in no hurry - the beauty of NC. :)

For sure! It's just my currently planned books work well for the chains, so I'd like to get the SIO out of the way :D

message 59: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Kari - If you've ever got a book that work which you finish before I'm done with one of mine, feel free to bump me. My feelings will not be hurt!

I'll go look for an O or N.

Kari | 914 comments Not sure if this was mentioned somewhere, for the spellout we can use title, author first or last name, and series name? Not character names, right?

message 63: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Kari wrote: "Not sure if this was mentioned somewhere, for the spellout we can use title, author first or last name, and series name? Not character names, right?"

It was in the Q&A, I think. You've got it!

message 64: by Kari (new)

Kari | 914 comments Thank you!

message 65: by Kari (new)

Kari | 914 comments I finished O. Anyone want the N? I'll look for something just in case.

message 66: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments I don't have anything with N that fits any of my other challenges...

message 67: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments I’ve got an N. And I’m switching my W book - I just don’t like Zombies…..

I might finish tonight, but it will probably be tomorrow morning.

That's great, Tru! Go team 💪
I don't like zombies either, I totally get you.

message 69: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments Thanks Tru! I'm sorry I'm not contributing as much so far 😬

I'm hoping to make it up this week!

message 70: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments I assume that as we all voted Yes to banked books, we are going to do so?

This means if you have any W or N books from the start of the challenge we can use them for the spell out! We just can't use banked books for part two...

Banking books sounds good to me :)

message 72: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Let's bank!

message 73: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Do either of you have a W book? I'll be finished with my N book in the next hour or so - it doesn't work for any of the Chain items below, so we might as well use it for the Spell.

Complete the following tasks Must complete the spellout above 1st
Arm 1: Read a chain of 3 books set in Maine
Arm 2: Read a chain of 3 books with shapeshifters
Leg 1: Read a chain of 3 books that start with a letter in SPIDER
Leg 2: Read a chain of 3 books that have 25 or 27 intact in the page count (example: 250 pgs or 127 pgs)

message 74: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments I don’t have anything banked, but I can read the book you had picked for W if you don’t want to. I should be able to start it tomorrow. We can’t finish any books for part two until we’re done the spell out as we can’t use banked books for it.

Actually, I’ll switch to the W book right now and finish my current one after as I only need it done by end of the 10th.

message 75: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Perfect!

Thanks, Teresa.

Waking up, just saw this, sorry. Glad Teresa has a book for W!

message 77: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Good morning, all!

Teresa - If you haven't started the W book yet, I can go ahead and read mine. I'm not excited about it, but it's not a problem - I'm off from work today.

And I added the arms and legs to the ss.

message 78: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments I’ll be done my W momentarily!!

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Woohoo!

message 82: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Kari -

Teresa and I have already added books with 25 intact in the page count. I have another book with 27 that I need to read in the next two days. Would you be ok with me taking the third spot, or do you already have something picked out?

Hmmm...or we could move The Station to starts with SPIDER....

I don't have anything picked out for that task, go ahead and grab whichever spot works better, Tru. 😀
I only have the shifter book picked at this point, I'll be able to find stuff for some of the others no problem .

Historical MM can be iffy for me, so it's one I've put off reading for a bit. I'm glad to know yo like it so much!

message 86: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Well drat - the edition of the book I'm reading isn't a 27 after all. This is the trouble with Turf Wars - you keep forgetting if you're looking at the default page count or your edition's....

message 87: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments SO I know I said I didn't like zombie books, but I thought I'd give Kick at the Darkness a try, since it works for KCR and TW - and I know you read it, Teresa.

It's not bad!

No problem. I don't have anything picked for Arm 1 or Leg 2 yet, if you guys want either or have anything banked go ahead and grab them please, if not I'll find something when I finish with Leg 1 :).

I hope you enjoy it! I happen to like zombies and post-apocalyptic stories so I'm a little biased

I wish we could use banked books for this part! sadly, Donna said we can use banked books for Spell Outs, but not the task chains.

I'm so glad we're playing NC - no pressure.

I like some Apocalyptic / Post Apocalyptic stuff, but I generally prefer traditional plague to zombie plague. That said, I enjoyed Kick at the Darkness so much that I stayed up late to read Fight the Tide, too.

Did you know that the audio version for Fight the Tide came out today on Audible?

Ohhh, that's right, argh.

I'm also glad it's NC. I've had a ton of work today and yesterday and almost no time to read :(

I get that. Days I'm off from work I get in a fair amount of reading done - how did I ever get domestic chores done without audiobooks? But work days are trickier. I'm off agin today, so I'l get some moer done.

Are you playing Turf Wars, Kari? I can't remember. It's seriously influening my reading right now.

I'm not. I played the individual version a long time ago, but I've never played the team version.

I found a short one set in Maine for Arm 1, starting it tonight.

I did - I hadn't even noticed it worked until I double checked.

I'm gald you found one for Maine - I wasn't having much luck coming up with another.

message 99: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments Ugh - I went to read my 25 in page count book but it's no longer in KU... I'm having such a hard time finding anything to fit that also works for Turf Wars... I'll keep looking but work on my set in Maine book in the mean time.

Teresa (teresab78) | 500 comments Found a short one! ETA: and I've already read it... I'll keep looking...
