---In philosophy, it's ethics that allows for varying one's answer/s to ethical conundrums (say, for instance, "Is it acceptable to bomb civilians in an enemy nation?") in accord with the circumstances/facts/scope/characters of the particular situation. One might answer, for instance, "Maybe try offering terms, or even an ultimatum, first?" or, for example, "Only if you know that enemy will otherwise do severe harm [or even: at least as severe harm] to you" or other qualifying/delimiting phrase/conditions.-- The answer, that is, requires having knowledge of the situation and taking the situation (plus one's more general universe of ethics answers) into account in answering the etchics question.

I've dropped two sons off at college, and the house feels weird with only 4 out of 6 kids at home, and now the Boeing strike and my impending furlough in Oct. I feel like I'm in a bit of a Twilight Zone episode.
