R G | 3 comments In the “Best Books of 2023”, you do not allow voting for many books that were published in 2023, as confirmed in the Goodreads description of the book. Recent books I tried to vote for, but could not, include: The Rise and the Fall of the EAST: Examination, Autocracy, Stability and Technology by Yasheng Huang; Rigor of Angels by William Egginton; Against the World: Anti-Globalism and Mass Politics Between the World Wars by Tara Zahra; The Worlds I See: Curiosity, Exploration, and Discovery at the Dawn of AI by Fei-Fei Li. For 2024, I cannot vote for: The Everything War: Amazon’s Ruthless Quest to Own the World and Remake Corporate Power by Dana Mattioli.
More importantly, why can’t you accept the Goodreads date of publication as true??

Renske | 12220 comments I'm not sure I understand it, it might help if you provide a link.

Standard listopia list can't block anything. If the list has been made static it no new books can be added, but there should be a logic reason why it is static. (A 'Best Books of 2023' list based an other source could be a static list as it is defined by that other source.)

Sure. Here is a link to the Best Books of 2023 list: https://www.goodreads.com/list/best_o...
At present, if you try to vote for any of the books I list in my message, the system says “not published during this year.” Yet, if you look at the Goodreads summary for the year in question, it lists the year of publication as 2023. If you don’t believe me, please try it.

This seems like a simple fix. If Goodreads says a book was published in 2023, why not program the system to let anyone vote for that book in the “Best of 2023” list? Same for all the other years. Same for the Best of [month] 2023, or [month] 2024. There are also lists for best books of a given decade, but Goodreads does not allow votes for the books even in Goodreads says the book was published in that decade.

Renske | 12220 comments That is new for me that lists can be limited that way. But this is not a librarian issue, you should contact the staff https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...
