TASK HELP: Fall Challenge 2024

15.1 - Whodunnit?
These lists might help, but there is no requirement to pick a book from them. Be warned that not all books that appear on the lists meet the requirements for the task!

Looking for specifically revolvers and daggers - this list might help, but is by no means exhaustive: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
Unfortunately, opening it up to the more general 'knife' category would mean including things like butter knives, and spreading someone to death is not a particularly effective method...!

Edited the task to clarify what we're looking for in a dagger. Hopefully that removes some of the ambiguity!

Oh, that is very appropriate! Now what I wouldn't give for a haunted manor version of Cluedo with things like a crypt and a creepy chapel...
I think I might just be thinking of Betrayal at House on the Hill now.

Yep, I see the revolving chamber there. Good to go!

Yes, I see it there. Thumbs up for that one.

It's hard to tell if those are revolvers as opposed to, say, flintlocks, but I see a dagger on the right hand side among the wisteria vines so it's still approved.

The woman in the middle is holding a knife - but part of the knife is covered by her hand and so not seen. Does it still count for Option 1?

Also ... do swords count? This one has a visible hilt/pommel, even while it is almost as long as the man holding it.

or, in this case, the woman holding it

Thanks!

I'm afraid not on the swords - we're looking for daggers, which are typically shorter weapons.
In your first example, that looks to be a chef's knife rather than a dagger.

No problem, I'm glad the examples have helped!

It's not quite clear enough to tell if that's a revolver as opposed to any other kind of handgun, I'm afraid, so it's a no on that one.

They look more like flintlocks. Revolvers have the distinctive spinning chamber for bullets - if you take a look at the examples in Brooke, Robin and Katrisa's posts you might be able to see what I mean.

Okay, thank you!
If it helps, I'm planning to use
- the two horizontal bones above the trigger are meant to look like part of the chamber.

I was wondering if the candlestick which the three candles on this one are in is obvious enough to work for this task.

Thanks.

Sure, that works.

That looks like a sword to me, given the length of the blade and the size of the handle in comparison to the blade. I'm going to say no on that one.

Cluedo, known as Clue in North America, celebrates its 75th birthday this year. Originally released in 1949, the much-loved murder mystery game has endured through the years, spawning an entire franchise that includes a feature film, a stage play, and an entire series of books for younger readers (alas, none of which show in AR Bookfind, so you'll have to use 5.10 if you want to read those!).
This is a two-book task.
Book 1: Read a book with one of the iconic Cluedo murder weapons on the cover: candlestick, dagger (with visible hilt/pommel), lead pipe, revolver (with visible revolving chamber), rope or spanner/wrench.
Required: Post the cover
Book 2: Read a book from the first 25 pages of this Murder Mystery list: https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...
Required: State the page of the list your book is found on.
