However, note that all deletions are now stuck in queue, as reported here. Until this is resolved, the merge will remain incomplete with uncertain consequences. Specifically, recombination, if needed, cannot take place.

I don't think doing these merges before the issue is resolved is a smart move. However, I will do several a day to monitor the state of the queue.
