in 2007/2008 my teacher read us this book and i cannot find it for the life of me. i'm gonna tell you some things i remember that may or may not have actually happened in the book haha

it's about two young boys and i remember something about a bat cave and all the bat noises were echoing so loudly in one boys head and he died. i think he had a brain tumor.

the friend is playing on a tree and finds a portal to heaven and is able to hang out with his friend. his friend has access to information about when everyone will die and tells his friend that his death date is coming up and they'll be able to hang out forever. i think it was supposed to be a car crash death and the mc had to decide whether or not he wanted to skip getting in the car that day to live or die and be able to hang out with his friend in heaven all the time.

i don't remember anything after this or how it ended, but my friend who was in the class thinks one of the boys names might have been richard or dick
