Christine Mathieu | 948 comments I tend to read a book while standing in line at the cashier. I also read a book in my car when stuck in a traffic jam.

Once I've read a few chapters of "La reine Margot" by Alexandre Dumas père inside the Louvre where the story takes place.

I've also read a few chapters of "Five on a Treasure Island" by Enid Blyton in the ruins of Corfe Castle, Dorset, UK, where it takes place.

It takes me about a year to finish a book while I'm sitting at dentists and doctors waiting rooms. Right now I'm reading there a biography on Harrison Ford.

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments Last Christmas was the most boring I ever experienced.
Everybody (except my husband and me) was focused on their cell phones. Then we had Christmas dinner with his in-laws (son, daughter and son's family with adult grandsons), then we all unwrapped the presents.
Afterwards everybody focused on their cell phones.

We left after 3 hours.
I told my husband: "Next Christmas I'll bring a book to read."
He laughed.
But I'm serious. I refuse to go through such a waste of time ever again!!!

message 22: by Mike (new)

Mike | 107 comments I was on my way home from West Virginia a few years ago. I had an old car with a cracked radiator cap. I could only drive about 30 miles before it would overheat, and I would have to refill it. I would step outside the car and read for 15 minutes and then drive another 30 miles. The book I was reading was The Son by Jo Nesbo.
