The book starts with her trying to get a lift into town from a couple staying at the holiday cottage at the farm. She says she’ll direct them to a restaurant if they take her with them and they also go to pick up the girl’s friend (Bethan?) She sings in a choir and they go on a choir trip to Austria or Germany
