The Paradise Problem question

Can someone please explain how the inheritance claw can affect Alex as was married for much longer than 5 years and got it upon his 5th anniversary? Because Liam got his full share at that time, so what Alex had to lose with it?
Also Jake is yet to claim his share, so what if he mess things up? By the logic that I am trying to understand, if that happens, Liam and Alex can be in trouble with it again. But Liam seems to gained full access and the whole thing is a done deal. But in the same standpoint, shouldn't Alex been safe, when Liam got in trouble?
