Hi everyone, I'm Emily! I'm hoping to read at least 3 books during this Readathon.A couple books that I have in mind to use:
For One More Day - works for unit of time or the color blue
The Summer I Turned Pretty - works for season, things you find in the garden, flowers, or the color blue
The Mars Room - works for planets or body parts (or maybe rooms/parts of the house although that's kind of a stretch since it's just the word room in the title)
Those are the ones I plan to start with and hopefully I'll be able to finish all three and even get in a fourth?
8/2 - For One More Day pages 53-197
Completed (145 pages)
8/3 - The Summer I Turned Pretty pages 1-62 (62 pages)
8/4 - The Summer I Turned Pretty pages 63-166 (104 pages)

Hello Team 1! I’m excited to be reading with you all this time around! I’ll add my TBR to our spreadsheet sometime this weekend. I’m with family now so it might not be until late tomorrow or Monday morning though.
Lisa Marie, until the readathon starts our main use for the spreadsheet is for all of our members to add their planned books to the ‘Planning’ tab and mark off which prompts they would fit. That way we can all see which prompts we still need books for and which we have covered. There should be some instructions in the spreadsheet to help guide us and once some of our seasoned readathoners start adding things to it it’ll make more sense. Happy to have you as our fearless leader! Let us know if there’s anything we can do to help you out. ☺️

Hello bailey :)Thank you so much for your help with the spreadsheet. I appreciate your input very much!! Hopefully I will understand more as some of the veterans start to fill out the spreadsheet.
I do have one more question and that is about the comment below that you made.....I don't think I am the leader for our Team. I haven't been asked about it....unless you know something that i don't :) LOL!! I will reach out and try to find out who is our Team Leader
"Happy to have you as our fearless leader! Let us know if there’s anything we can do to help you out. ☺️"
Hey Lisa Marie, You are Team Leader since you volunteered when you signed up 😊 No need to worry though, you have a team full of capable, experienced members who have tried it before, and can most likely do the spreadsheet filling on their own. You're main responsibility is simply making sure that everything runs smoothly, and even then it's for the most part a team effort.
I lead my first readathon last year, and I promise it's not that difficult.
You can always ask here, or (like you did) on the Readathon Central 😊
Exactly what Lisa G. said! Five of our teammates, including myself, have participated in at least one readathon before and will be able to assist in any way you need. Another role of the team leader is to cheerlead our team in this thread and post our team’s progress at the halfway mark and end of the readathon in a separate thread that will be posted in a few days. Everything will be okay and we will figure it all out as a team. 😊
One of our first orders of business should be figuring out a team name while we wait for the start of the readathon on 8/2. Anyone have any suggestions? We could do something spy/sleuth related or literature related?
I have started adding a few books to the planning tab which might be useful to others to see how the spreadsheet works. I hope to read more during the readathons but will add them later on when I can see what prompts we need to fill.Team names: I like something spy/sleuth related. I also thought about Little Eyes because of "I spy with my little eye..."

Hello Lisa,
I am so sorry I had completely forgotten that I did say "YES" I would be a Team Leader. I appreciate your willingness to help me out and for being there if I have any questions!! You all rock!! Thank you again!!
HAPPY READING!!

I can and will do this!!
HAPPY READING and Lets have fun with this Readathon!!
HELLO TEAM 1 :)So, I agree with bailey and Rachael that we need to come up with a team name. I like bailey's idea of it being "spy/sleuth" related or Rachael's idea of something with "I spy with my little eye".....
Does anyone have any other ideas so we can have a few and then we can take a vote as a team??
I will check back in a hour or so....I need to think about this for a few :)
I found a random team name generator that helped me find a few options below. These combine both sleuthing and reading:1) Sleuthing Bibliophiles
2) Undercover Readers
3) Classified Chapter Chasers
4) Literature Operatives

bailey, these are awesome ideas for a Team Name :) My pick would be for "Undercover Readers".....this is my favorite!!
Which one would be your pick?
I will try to get in touch with the other members of our team and see what their thoughts are on the Team Name.
Thank you so much for helping out with the Team Name!! You ROCK!!
My favorites from that list are Sleuthing Bibliophiles and Classified Chapter Chases! I’m definitely open to hear what ideas other team members have, too!
Hey everyone, excited to be a part of this team! This will be my second readathon. I will be on vacation for the majority of the readathon and my service will be a bit spotty at times but will still check in most likely every other day. Will start planning my books at some point today, am going for 4 but planning on relaxing as much as possible so could be more. Oh and I like Sleuthing Bibliophiles for a team name!
Just added 4 books to the spreadsheet that I will be for sure bringing with me on my trip. Will bring a few others just in case but wanted to make sure I had some that covered some needed prompts.Going to use the space below to plan some of my books in case I end up reading more. :
For Sure:
The Quiet Room - Rooms/Parts of a House (single), Something you find in the garden (double), Animals (triple)
Walden: Life in the Woods - Biome (single), Buildings (double), The color blue (triple)
The Mystery of Mrs. Christie - Body part (double), A proper title (triple)
Artemis - Planet (single), Deities/Gods (single)
Maybe:
When Cicadas Cry - Something you find in the garden (double), Bugs (double), Things in the sky (double)
Trial of the Sun Queen
No Easy Prey

I like Undercover Readers! They're all fun suggestions though!
I just sent messages to the folks on our team that haven't checked in yet to let them know they're on our team. Hopefully they'll be joining us in here soon :)
Thanks for the message! It’s my first time doing a read-a-thon - not too sure what to expect. 😁I like the team name suggestion of Undercover Readers!
I’ll look over the prompts tonight and see what books fit.

Hi, my name is Sunny! I'm glad to be part of this team. I'm still trying to figure out what singles, doubles, and triples means so I'll add my list of expected books once I figure out the rules. Thank you
So does "doubles" mean that two people need to fulfill the prompt for it to count? Sorry, I'm a bit confused
Sunny ❄️ wrote: "So does "doubles" mean that two people need to fulfill the prompt for it to count? Sorry, I'm a bit confused"Doubles mean that you need to read two books for the points, triples three books. It is across the team so an individual doesn't have to read both/all for that prompt.
For example: I might have one book that fits a triple prompt, bailey has two
Exactly right! Double and triple prompts can be completed by one person reading 2 or 3 books but any combination of us working together to complete them is a-okay, too.
I have another question. Can books that are currently being read count for this challenge, as long as they're finished after August 2 (the beginning of the competition)? Or are all books required to be started after the challenge start date? Thank you

Otherwise you would just get points for the pages that are read!
Emily is correct! I’ve been working on getting the books I’m currently reading down to the last 100 pages so I can finish them right after the readathon starts. There’s no need to do it this way, though, just an option (especially for people like me who are a bit slower 😉). @everyone, did we decide on a team name? Based on my count we are 3:3 for Undercover Readers vs. Sleuthing Bibliophiles.

Hello Team!! I am so sorry about being MIA for the past two days!! I had a family issue and had to go out of town. But, I am back home and things are much better. I am so very excited about being a part of this Readathon and for being able to lead this team. This is the first Readathon team I had lead so I very much appreciate all the help I have been getting from everyone!! So, are we calling ourselves...."Undercover Readers"?
I will be checking in daily as much as I can and I am here to help you all with whatever you need. If I don't know I will find out!!
So, here is to an awesome Readathon!!
Happy Reading!!
Hello again!! I just actually went back up and caught up on the posts....
I actually really like "Undercover Bibliophiles" :)
However, I am not sure how to go about getting our team name changed from Team 1 to Undercover Bibliophiles??
Good Morning Team!! Happy First Day of the Readathon!!Good Luck to everyone!!!
It is now 1;31 am here in Michigan and I am just getting started reading....the two books I have picked are:
BUGS:
Hornet's Nest by Patricia Cornwell
ANIMALS:
The Eighty-Dollar Champion: Snowman, the Horse That Inspired a Nation by Elizabeth Letts
*I wasn't able to add my books to the spreadsheet for some reason (at least I am unable to figure it out...LOL) so I am posting here :)
Happy Reading!!
Happy first day everyone! I have started
today, thinking it will work to fulfill the "Biome" single prompt, or could help fulfill the "Building" triple prompt. Oh I also added everyone's names to the tracking tab of the spreadsheet, hope that is okay.
Desiré wrote: "Happy first day everyone! I have started

Thank you so much for adding everyone's name to the tracking tab of the spreadsheet!! That is very helpful!! I very much appreciate any help I can get as this is the first time I am team leader for a Readathon!!
Happy Reading!!
Happy first day of readathon-ing, Team! I’ve started my day by finishing up The Fellowship of the Ring and will now work on finishing Bloody Fingers and Red Lipstick. I’m excited to see what the rest of you are reading!
Sending this photo to any friends or family that try and contact me while I’m trying to read.. heheh
@Desiré, thank you for adding our names to the spreadsheet!
@Lisa Marie, I got our team name updated so we should be good to go on all fronts now! Let me know if you (or anyone else) has an issues with the spreadsheet. It should be a bit more user friendly this year but I’ll never put all my faith into technology 😂
Evening all (well it's evening for me!). For my first day of the readathon, I've read 103 pages of The Name of the Rose. Hope it's going well for everyone so far
Hello Team and I hope you all had a awesome first day of the Readathon!! I was hoping to get more read today but life got in the way...so hopefully I will be able to read more tomorrow without interruptions....LOL!!
Happy Reading!!
Sunny ❄️ wrote: "Question: would "sea" in a title count for biome (singles)?"I think it could. Ocean is an example that comes up on google and sea is a synonym for ocean.
@Sunny, no worries!!Happy Day 2, everyone !
I spent some time reading outside the library today and it was the perfect place to get focused. I'm hoping to continue making progress on War of the Unborn and Daisy Jones & the Six today. Looks like everyone is doing fantastic so far! I'm around all weekend if anyone needs anything. 😁
Happy Day 2 of the Readathon :)I was able to get a few hours of reading done in Hornet's Nest this morning while my husband was at work. We had to go to my parent's home (hour and half away) so I got started on The Eighty-Dollar Champion. And, unfortunately that was all the reading I was able to get in today as I had a retirement/going away party for my cousin and didn't get back to my parents until after midnight.
My goal on Sunday is READING!!! Hoping to be able to finsih Hornet's Nest and maybe The Eighty Dollar Champion :)
You are all doing amazing and you all ROCK!! Talk to you all tomorrow!!
Happy Reading!!
