TerryJane | 4026 comments Looks good, Mansi.

Peach Blossom Spring could move to the Triples as the third Flower, if needed.

I am in the middle of the Women's Murder Club series, all of which have numbers in the titles. They are very quick reads, so if any of the others can be used elsewhere, I can quickly pick up 1,2, or 3 of these:
17th Suspect
The 18th Abduction (could also cover the Crime category)
The 19th Christmas

I also have a Q3 cozy called Hooked on Murder that could cover the third Crime.

Mansi V | 236 comments Ooh ok, I can then put It Happened One Summer into the season prompt when I finish it on Friday. I'm not sure where else I can put One Swallow Does Not Make a Summer but I'm only a few pages into that one so can always change for another short book that matches another prompt

Those two books are the books I have for number

message 153: by Lina (new)

Lina | 823 comments I am fine stopping my audio book that I am listening to right now and switching to short ones for other prompts instead - but having a bit of a hard time telling which ones. Maybe a short one for the flowers prompt? Else, Deities or Biome? Those look like the ones we arent currently reading books for?

message 154: by Lina (new)

Lina | 823 comments I found a short book that frees up another one of mine that is very versatile and fits both the flower prompt and also multiple others. So I’ll go for that one now and then be free for another after :)

message 155: by Mansi V (last edited Aug 07, 2024 03:37PM) (new)

Mansi V | 236 comments Perfect, sorry I just started my deities one yesterday but forgot to update it on the sheet, so I'll have that one sorted! But I likely won't finish it until Sunday so I can always move it to another prompt if needed

message 156: by TerryJane, Challenges (last edited Aug 08, 2024 09:52AM) (new)

TerryJane | 4026 comments I finished Freefall, but since it didn't fit what was left, I moved Peach Blossom Spring to finish the Flower triple, and put Freefall in the single for Parts of a House.

I have quite a few short books that could help fill the list. For now, I will start Hooked on Murder to finish the Crime category.

Prompts that are currently incomplete (not counting what someone may have started):
1 - Units of time
1 - Planet
1 - Season
1 - Biome
1 - Deity/God
1 - Fruit/Veggie

1 2 - Proper title
1 - Crime
2 3 - Number

If you are about to finish one of the above prompts, let the team know so that we can focus our attention where it's needed.

We are doing so well!

Billie-Jade | 54 comments I can read five survive as it’s been on my TBR for a while and that will fill one of the number prompts. I will add this to the planning spread sheet.

message 158: by Carrie (last edited Aug 08, 2024 06:54AM) (new)

Carrie | 348 comments I completed The Midwife of Berlin last night but just now got the chance to add to tracking sheet. All prompts that it fills are full so I added it for now as a non-prompt but it has 8 possibilities so if we shuffle around I am sure we can find a spot for it. I started to do that but stopped myself because I think y'all already have a plan that I don't want to mess up. Let me know if I need to do it though. I did notice that Failure is Not an Option: Mission Control From Mercury to Apollo 13 and Beyond could be moved from accessory to deities or number. Or that both body part books could fill the Biome prompt. Any of those moves would free up a prompt for The Midwife of Berlin I am sure there are others as well.

I should also finish One Italian Summer tonight which can fill several prompts that are still open. (number, biome, fruit and veggie).

Thanks, Carrie! If Mansi doesn't beat me to it, I'll shuffle them around later.

message 161: by TerryJane, Challenges (new)

TerryJane | 4026 comments I was about to do some shuffling, but noticed that where books have been moved, the page points didn't necessarily move with them. Failure Is Not an Option: Mission Control from Mercury to Apollo 13 and Beyond, for example, only earned us 104 page points since I had read 75% of it before the readathon began, but it is currently listed in the Accessory prompt with 307 pages.

I will move it to Gods/Deities per Carrie's suggestion, so that her The Midwife of Berlin can move out of the non-prompt area. I will record the pages for each of those correctly, but I don't know where the 307 pages belong.

Everybody, please check the page points listed for your completed books.

message 162: by Mansi V (last edited Aug 08, 2024 01:48PM) (new)

Mansi V | 236 comments Ah no sorry that's completely my fault!! I reshuffled the books but forgot to switch the pages along with them.

I'm finishing a proper titles one tonight which will then finish that prompt, and will be finishing a number one tomorrow. My final numbers one won't be finished until Sunday so Five Survive or One Italian Summer can fill the numbers prompt if they're finished before I finish mine

message 163: by Lina (last edited Aug 08, 2024 02:13PM) (new)

Lina | 823 comments On multiple of my books the page numbers have completely disappeared (so might now be the numbers for some other book, possibly?)- so I think its best if we all re-check our numbers to make sure they are still correct :)

And @TerryJane I am currently reading a short book for the fruits/veggies one, so if you want you can cross that one off as well
(nvm, i see that the prompt has already been filled, I will re-check whether mine can be moved somewhere else once i finish)

We are getting super close to finishing all the prompts, team! :) Awesome! (as of right now there only seem to be seven open prompts!)

If there is no good fit for your fruit/veggie book, Lina, we can move The House on Mango Street to Building, in place of The Cabin in the Woods, which could go into the single Biome.

I am 40% done with The 18th Abduction. It fits a few other prompts aside from Number.

Next I plan to start In Five Years. It will fit Unit of Time, as well as a few others.

Sure that works :) Another option would be to use the one I am currently reading for animal, move Hello Stranger to building and move Momo back to the time one.
Its nice that many of our books seem to have very diverse covers ... good for when the bonus prompts open up and we have to move things around!

Thanks for your work btw TerryJane and Mansi :)

I am sadly not sure whether I will be able to finish When the Moon Hatched, as it still has a lot of pages left... I could switch to something else if we end up missing certain books in the end.

message 167: by Alina (new)

Alina | 257 comments Sorry for only checking in now. I am about to finish my book. It could work as fruit veggies/ flowers/ things you find in the garden/ an I think more (am using my phone at the moment so I don't have the list at hand). Unfortunately all of these prompts seem to be done already - so maybe we would have to look how to move things around so that it can fit?
I'll have a look tomorrow morning, Going to finish up the book for now.

Oh, if we do that, maybe I could start either Orbiting Jupiter or The Mars Room next, to cover Planet.

And, yes, the versatility is terrific. I wonder if any of the other teams have unlocked bonus prompts yet. 🤔

That sounds good!
If we end up needing the seasons prompt more it would also be an option to move Small Things Like These to that one instead. But 3 books are marked as currently reading for that prompt, so the other option is probably better and then you can tick the planet one off as well :)

message 170: by Lina (new)

Lina | 823 comments Is there a prompt that isn’t yet covered and for which someone is reading a book (I think all of them are covered by now in theory) that won’t be finished by tomorrow or Saturday morning? Is there a way to tell? Just so we could maybe find some other quick book to read for that one to have a look at the bonus prompts a bit earlier? (Not trying to stress anyone out just might be easier if we know in advance?). I hope you’re all having fun reading :)
I am finishing the time one by tomorrow.

Looks like 2 other people are also reading for the numbers prompt, so I can then move It Happened One Summer which I'm finishing tomorrow to the seasons prompt

Then it looks like it's only Biome and Planets left, but we could then do what TerryJane suggested in message 164

Congrats everyone, you're all doing AMAZING!!

Is that the Regrettably book? We'll look at where to fit it in once it's finished. After we get the list of bonus prompts, there's no telling what may fit where. 😉

message 173: by Carrie (new)

Carrie | 348 comments My page numbers are all good. I can hardly wait to see the bonus prompts!!!

message 174: by L Y N N (last edited Aug 08, 2024 05:30PM) (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 2389 comments I completed The Lost Story which would only work for animals or blue, so am unable to place it in the prompt grid...

Just realized I have two book club meetings next Tuesday, so am fitting one of those books in now. It is short but only fits two prompts.

Perhaps both of these will fulfill bonus prompts?

message 175: by TerryJane, Challenges (new)

TerryJane | 4026 comments I switched some books, leaving Animal open for Lina's and Fruit/Veg for Alina's. LYNN, I will look around to see what we can do to fit yours somewhere.

message 176: by TerryJane, Challenges (new)

TerryJane | 4026 comments Okay, I just moved Small Things Like These to the single Season, freeing up another Animal spot. Go for it, LYNN!

I'm hoping the last of the missing prompts will be filled in tomorrow (Friday). We are only missing:
- fruit/veg
- animal
- proper title
- number

Once these last four are filled in, we can get the bonus list. If you are reading for one of these and still have a lot left, please let us know.

Meanwhile, I will start reading some books for my August and Q3 challenges, and maybe book club like LYNN is doing. If they don't fit for bonuses, at least they can count for page points.

message 179: by Alina (new)

Alina | 257 comments I just finished Regrettably, I am About to Cause Trouble and the fruit/veggie prompt was still open so I put it into that as there is a mushroom on the cover!

There´s also a butterfly on the cover but I wasn´t sure if that counts as animal or bug as it is an insect?
I didn´t put those in as possible prompts because of me not being sure about them and not wanting to do anything wrong!

That would mean only 3 prompts left! I can´t wait to see the additional prompts!

Also I just want to recommend this book I just read. It was such a fun book and it put together so many themes (like politics, sisterhood, self-love) without being too much! I loved the characters and at no point could I foresee what would happen next.

message 180: by Alina (last edited Aug 09, 2024 02:22AM) (new)

Alina | 257 comments Since I don´t have any books left, that are important for our prompts (as all are assigned and I won´t be able to finish another book today) - I´ll have a look at my kindle TBR.

____

edit: I´m starting The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo . It´s been on my TBR for a while. If it doesn´t fit any new prompts I´ll try and start another book and come back to his after the readathon!

message 181: by Carrie (new)

Carrie | 348 comments I filled the last number prompt with One Italian Summer. Hope that's okay. It looks like only Animals and Proper Title to go!

message 182: by TerryJane, Challenges (new)

TerryJane | 4026 comments Awesome! That's perfect, Alina and Carrie.

We are so close! Who is currently reading for Animals and Proper Title?

Or can the next two almost-finished books be swapped around so that we can fill those prompts?

message 183: by L Y N N (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 2389 comments I completed A Room of One's Own which only fits ROOM in singles or FLOWERS in triples. Have no idea what you want to do with it.

message 184: by TerryJane, Challenges (new)

TerryJane | 4026 comments I finished The Kite Fighters this morning and listed it first as a non-prompt, then decided to see where else it might fit. I moved Hello Stranger to Animals, and Kite Fighters to Buildings.

The only prompt left is Proper Title. Woohoo!

@Mansi, your Anne Boleyn book is marked for that one and says you're currently reading it. Are you close to finishing? Or should one of us find a shortish book that fits that prompt?

Sorry just finished it today, so have added it!! Yay we've finished the prompts!! I'll ask for the bonus prompts!! Congrats team!!

message 186: by TerryJane, Challenges (new)

TerryJane | 4026 comments Yay!

LYNN, just add yours to the non-prompt area for now. Perhaps it can be moved into a bonus prompt later.

message 187: by Alina (new)

Alina | 257 comments Wow that's great! Can't wait to see the new prompts! I'll definetlz squeeze in a book that fits one of them!!!

message 188: by Lina (last edited Aug 09, 2024 09:27AM) (new)

Lina | 823 comments Bonus prompts are up now!

Maybe it would make sense to actually assign those prompts? Because else we might end up with half a double or part of a triple or something?

Edit: I have a hard time with these prompts (trying to mark which of my old books fit which of them): e.g., does a book with snow on the cover count for temperature? Or does it have to have something like 'freezing' in the title or a thermometer on the cover?

Also, would Turtle count as something found in the Ocean?

message 189: by TerryJane, Challenges (new)

TerryJane | 4026 comments I started this one earlier today. Will this work for restaurant? It says Beachfront Bakery (name of the series) in big letters above the title.
A Murderous Macaron (Beachfront Bakery #2) by Fiona Grace .

While I wait for your opinions, I'll start something else.

message 190: by Mansi V (new)

Mansi V | 236 comments Ooooh fun! Is it just me or are these ones a lot harder? I mean I'm finishing It Happened One Summer tonight and that has some waves on the cover so I guess that could go under the ocean prompt?

What if you put it under the Color Blue in the main prompts, and move Starfish Sisters to bonus?

message 193: by Mansi V (last edited Aug 09, 2024 09:37AM) (new)

Mansi V | 236 comments Ooh yeah that's perfect! I'll also be finishing Mythos: The Greek Myths Retoldby Sunday and I could also move that to colour blue and maybe put Malibu Rising in the ocean prompt too? I can't think of any of the bonus prompts Mythos will fall under and I don't want to abandon it since I'm halfway through

I also struggled with assigning my old books to the new prompts... have put '-' again when I am fairly sure they fit and '?' when they might but its debatable

message 197: by L Y N N (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 2389 comments I am debating whether to continue with my last two books or switch off to something that would be helpful with the bonus prompts.

Do you think The Lion Women of Tehran would work for "nationality"?

And, unless someone else is more creative than I am, I do not see where A Room of One's Own would work for any bonus prompt. Thoughts?

message 198: by L Y N N (last edited Aug 09, 2024 09:50AM) (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 2389 comments Ooohhh...the other book club book I need for next Tuesday is Before the Coffee Gets Cold. Do we think that could work for restaurant? It definitely would if we could consider the content. But does the cover indicate a restaurant setting?

It would fit TEMPERATURE, SOMETHING YOU FIND IN AN OFFICE (chair/lamp/table), and maybe RESTAURANT.

message 199: by TerryJane, Challenges (last edited Aug 09, 2024 09:51AM) (new)

TerryJane | 4026 comments I also have Tales from the Café which would fit the same Triple.

Also, O Pioneers! and The Paragraph Ranch for the Farm one. The latter could also fit the Book prompt.

I was looking at In Five Years yesterday for Unit of Time and Number. Didn't end up needing it, but it has the Statue of Liberty on it (landmark). Can add it back if we fill the biggies.

The cover shows a table and chairs in the café, so I think it would work. It's also versatile with those other options.
