This story is set on the moon Panga centuries after the robots became sentient and amicably separated from humans to live in nature. Sibling Dex (a human) is on a spiritual journey to find a monastery and become a tea monk. Dex comes across a “wild-built” robot called Splendid Speckled Mosscap. They journey together, and the two become friends. I enjoyed the second half much more than the first, which seems to be going nowhere, but once the journey started, it becomes more appealing. It is an interesting take on a utopian society. Even though there is little conflict, people are still experiencing an undercurrent of dissatisfaction. There is no explanation of how the world got to be the way it is, but it was easy to just go with the flow. It is a peaceful story of acceptance. If there is such a thing as a cozy fantasy, this is surely an example.
