chloe ☾ (reading slump & semiactive) | 165 comments Ik this may seem like a weird question to ask but I need to know what everyone else sees when reading like do you guys see the actual events being played out in your mind or do you just hear the words in your mind or is there some other thing other people experience??

♡ lívia (liviasmind) | 43 comments i can picture a whole movie in my head while i'm reading. sometimes i even imagine the characters voices lol

chloe ☾ (reading slump & semiactive) | 165 comments it's weird for me because I picture certain scenes and at the same time I just hear my own voice in my head reading lol but I also imagine the characters voices too

✨sofia✨ | 669 comments Same but I hear all of the characters voices in my head and I can see vague scenes of the action and setting in my head

lilly ♡ (semi-hiatus, reading slump) | 1479 comments the page lol. i cant really picture things in my mind and i don't make the characters have voices in my head

message 6: by autumn (new)

autumn | 40 comments sometimes i see the events but not fully clearly, but i don’t really hear the characters voices unless i actually make myself imagine it and i mainly just see the page unfortunately, i’ve lost the ability to see full on events since i stopped reading for a while lol (i didn’t work out 🏋️‍♀️ my imagination)

message 7: by Briana (new)

Briana (mercuryspages) | 17 comments I hear the characters voices when I’m reading and see the scenes playing out in my head while I’m reading especially when the scenery is super well described

message 8: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra (alexbrendeke) | 77 comments I hear the characters voices and I can also picture what’s happening inside the book like all of the events that take place. It’s kind of like I’m making a mini movie inside my head

message 9: by Bella (new)

Bella The Bookworm (bellabuchanan) | 397 comments I see it going on as I read most of the time, unless I’m just not in the mood to read. But sometimes my brain fights on how I want to imagine it.

message 10: by Lia (new)

Lia | 51 comments this is actually such an interesting question, i don't think i've ever thought about it and now i am trying to remember what do i do when i read lol. i think it's just the words in my head, i do imagine how the characters look or the things that are being described but to me it isn't like a movie at all

humna حمنہ (j. lynch's version) (h_humna) | 393 comments i can imagine the whole scene if the writing's detailed and I actively use my mind, and I can also imagine the voices, tone, expressions etc sometimes

littlefox (not as active) | 154 comments it depends on the book. sometimes i picture the scene in my head and i can see it play out like a movie. other times, i just hear my voice in my head reading the words, or the characters' voices (at least what i imagine them to sound like) saying the dialogue.

message 13: by Kashfa (new)

Kashfa (kashfaarman) | 193 comments In the back of my mind,a lot of images of the characters and several scenes constantly go on while I'm reading. i never realised it until you asked rn TT

message 16: by Valeria (new)

message 17: by Linn h (new)

Linn h | 24 comments I picture the scene in my head like a an actual movie but I often don't use the written description but more how I image it for myself and I really like ro make a map in my head of orientation for example for apartments and houses

message 18: by Diana (new)

Diana Jaques | 100 comments I can visually see in my mind what is happening.
For example, I have read the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare and have also watched the TV series and film.
Now I can't remember what events happen it which because in my head I can see it all as one big film/show.

chloe ☾ (reading slump & semiactive) | 165 comments I didn't think to ask this question until recently and now I'm glad I did because it's really interesting to know everyone's experiences and how everyone reads different

message 20: by kelsey (new)

kelsey | 2 comments i can see what’s happening kinda? the best way i could describe it is i see what’s happening in the book in the same way that i can see things in my dreams like things and people are there but not every little detail if that makes any sense.

*・゜゚・*:.。..。.:*・Elaine Le・*:.。. .。.:*・゜゚・* (elainele09ig) | 124 comments I hear the narrators voices and I only listened to the first book.

message 22: by Clarissa (new)

Clarissa Labue-Pham (phamtasyartist) | 693 comments for me it's like watching a movie. I can visualize it while reading. the characters, how they move, the inflections in their voices. I only found out a few years ago there's some people who can't visualize like that.

message 23: by alyssa (new)

alyssa | 14 comments It really depends on the book, mainly writing style and format. For it to be a movie, writing should be detailed and immersive without overdoing it and carry small details through dialogue. Otherwise it’s a mess or just words sometimes. Audiobooks for me are ALWAYS a movie. Epub and novel depends heavily on the writing style.

Sometimes if you can’t picture the book, it may not be you but the book.

⋆ b r e z ! ⋆ | 1019 comments for me it’s like a movie and i’m just a fly on the wall

message 28: by Simpleen (new)

Simpleen Jessyka | 1 comments it's like a movie and also like i'm in it ! I can see, feel and scent everything. It's just incroyable

message 29: by tavia (new)

tavia | 83 comments i’m jealous of all yall who said yall its like a movie because i literally can not picture anything in my mind, its pitch black. i can see the context tho, i know what i’m supposed to picture but my mind just doesn’t lol

message 30: by Oumeima (new)

Oumeima | 6 comments I imagine in my head what mostly the author describes and add some sparkling thingies soni can enjoy the book sometimes my focus fades and lose control but then i start again where i am, it’s lovely to work on your imagination a little by a little

message 31: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 7 comments I don't really see anything when reading its more like i feel like im seeing it but im not really seeing it if that makes sense. But i do hear the voices of the characters.

message 32: by Nat (new)

Nat | 10 comments For me it's like a movie- I can picture the setting of a scene and the characters (what they look like, what they're wearing, their hairstyle, etc.). I can play out conversations and scenes. It's magical.

message 33: by Nnya (new)

Nnya | 3 comments for me it’s like a movie. I’m directing each scene, capturing everything just right. At the same time, I’m also acting, really getting into their emotions and lines. I read the script and picture how they move.

message 34: by Alice (new)

Alice Rooney | 2 comments I love this question because I like knowing how other peoples brains work!!! For me personally, exactly like the above comment, I see it all like a movie playing out in my mind. The images and details are exactly as described in the book and I can replay it whenever I want. It’s amazing in one way but sometimes makes film adaptations hard to digest because that’s not how I saw the character though 😅

message 35: by Luli (new)

Luli | 296 comments i can´t imagine the character´s voices but i do imagine what they would look like/what they´re doing, like a movie

message 37: by Varya (new)

Varya Ryabtseva | 91 comments Just literally a very detailed movie, that comes automatically

message 38: by maya ☆ (new)

maya ☆ (is starting uni!) (chicknotcorea) | 149 comments for me, it depends a lot on the pace of the novel. if it's fast-paced, it's a full-on movie. different voices, full faces, full scenes and background - of course aligned with the provided descriptions. if it's slow-paced or medium-paced, it's more abstract, it's more like a documentary. the focus for me is naturally a bit more on the writing too
