i'm not sure of the specific year, but i know i read this in my pre-teen years, so around 2015-2018, i'd say. i remember some very descriptive imagery of a character tending to a lighthouse. the descriptions in this story were very much like a sense of dread and eeriness. i think the main plot was about a kid who visited this one lighthouse very often to tend to it, but one day started seeing strange occurrences around it. i think there was also a scene in the book where the character (or someone else) was on a boat (fishing, maybe?) and saw the lighthouse randomly light up in the dark of night. the strange occurrences might've started happening when a certain person arrived at the town (or port) where the lighthouse is located, but i'm not too sure about this part. i'm pretty sure that the main character was a boy, but i'm also not too sure that it was a girl. the main character might've been around 10 to 15. the book cover might've been of a boy facing a lighthouse with the right side of the boy's face facing the cover. the main character might've had an old mentor who suddenly retired or passed away, leading to the main character, who was his apprentice (?) taking over his position. thank you!!
