Bianca and Nico are the first sibling duo we meet that has the same parents, however unlike Jason and Thalia they are both Hades’ Greek form children. Zeus himself tried to kill them, but they survived (unlike their mother) and were put in the Lotus Hotel. We meet them in the 3rd book and we see Bianca being a mother-like figure to Nico.
They soon join Percy and meet the goddess Artemis and her hunters.
Bianca 'betrays' Nico by joining Artemis and this leaves many PJO fans upset.
The 12 years old girl is one of the demigods/hunters who joins Percy in his quest to rescue Annabeth Chase and the goddess Artemis.
Despite being immortal, Bianca dies after she tried to steal a missing Mythomagic figurine for her brother, crushed by Talos (as she died in battle, she became mortal).
After the quest is done and Percy returns to camp, he breaks the news to Bianca. The boy is upset and the next time we see him, he is trying to bring his older sister back to life.

I think that their relationship is so complex and Bianca should not be blamed for wanting to leave - she was a child who needed to take care of another child.
When Artemis gave her the opportunity to leave, she took it knowing that her brother would be safe at Camp Halfblood.
She was just a kid and I think that people who hate her do not understand that she, although was trapped for tens of years in the Casino, was still coping with the fact her mother died.
I honestly think that she shouldn't be so villainised by the fandom as she was trying to take care of both herself - by escaping - and her brother - by leaving him in a place that he would be safe.

That was so sad 😭

I think one of the things that made it unpredictable is that since they were introduced in the third book you wouldn’t think Bianca would die

Jessie | 69 comments Literally the extra touch of Bianca dying while trying to get something for Nico is so tragic. It’s not like Nico was begging for the toy, Bianca was being a caring sister by trying to bring something back for her brother. It just makes her death that much more depressing. Like, Bianca your life means so much more to Nico than I silly toy, however much he’s obsessed with them.

Nico’s my favorite character so it was absolutely earth-shattering seeing him have to cope with such a tragedy. That being said, I don’t think I ever placed any blame on Bianca. And really, I think Nico just had to place the blame on somebody so that he could feel less miserable about what he lost. It’s easier to hate someone else than yourself. 😭😭😭

@Ray - yes, I literally shut my book when that happened because it didn't even occur to me that she could die.

@Jessie - exactly! You've worded the reason why people often dislike Bianca so beautifully. She was trying to be a good sister while she was obviously battling with guilt for leaving him behind twice (once when she joined the Hunters and then when she left on that quest)
