Sci-fi about a bar owner who finds a time traveling portal in his closet and goes back to visit old rock concerts

I read it earlier this year. I think was written post 2000. This portal in his closet takes him back to rock concerts. He meets a girl he time travels with. He accidentally sends his friend back to pre-historic Manhattan then tries to find him. Had a white cover with the image of a record player.

Was it a library book? How did you read it? Libraries keep records of the books you checked out. Same with kindles.

No, I got it at a book swap. I read it, really liked it and then passed it on to someone else ? and now I wish I’d kept it because I really want to reread it. Even though the story sounds simple, it was pretty complex and got deep But can’t remember the name.
