This is the discussion board for the second half of The Megalodon: A Deep Sea Thriller. Spoilers are welcome. If you comment first, please summarize the final chapters.

This is also the place for final thoughts on this novella and on Shark Week 2024.

Chapter 7. So, the Estonian freedom fighters are mentioned again. No idea why Estonia needs freedom fighters. Maybe the author should have done a quick internet search about Estonia.

Anyway, minisub, moon pool. Any number of shark/megalodon/ deep sea books or movies come to mind. This can only go downhill.

Finished this morning. Well, this was a waste of time. It is not well written. A lot of telling, very little showing, grammar issues and no suspense.

There have to be better shark books out there than this…. *sigh*

We could have used your interlopers to feed that shark… 😝

And I would have been happy to feed them to it, believe me!

Now I can't totally agree with you on this. Sometimes you just need a dose of excessively large sharks and this is a fine example of that, if nothing else. The real problem with the meg in this story, as far as I'm concerned, is that it kept us from seeing what else might be living in that cove.

I still can't believe Lilly had her goal in sight and just let it slip away. She didn't even try to get close to Mr. Dunkle. THAT calls for an explanation, far more than the Estonian freedom fighters.

I don‘t mind creature features, they can be a lot of fun. I read the first few Steve Alten books for example and those are good shark stories and despite some quibbles, they were decently written and researched.

The Meg didn‘t keep us from seeing what else is in the cove, the writing did. The author just threw everything at this novella, without following up on his plotlines. Like you wrote, one sentence of explanation could have done it. Pity, maybe I need to return to Alten…

When it comes to shark books, it's safe to say their name is Legion, for they are many. You have so many other choices... 🦈
