Hi All, I'm Brian. Father of three children, two dogs and one irritated cat. I live in Leicestershire in the UK.I'm a fan of most genres but the books I've been reading most recently fall into the Mysteries and Thrillers categories.
I've been reading more than ever over the last 12months as its the one true escape from stress and worry.
i've been logging books on Goodreads since last summer but only recently been writing reviews.
looking forward to catching up with you guys
Welcome to the Group Brian! I think you will find interesting discussions and recommendations here. A good place to start is our currently reading / just finished topic:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Welcome Brian. Why is your cat irritated? Outnumbered by the humans or maybe by the dogs? I think you need more cats! ;-)
Hello, I am JRR.Mystery is my favorite genre and I am looking forward to sharing titles and reading experiences with this group. I especially like British mysteries and Southern Noir. I live on the border of the Carolinas and you will often find me in a library either working and browsing the shelves.
Welcome to the group JRR! Spending time in a library is one of my favorite pastimes too. I always come home with more than I need. We look forward to talking about books with you!
I'm harboured up in the Welsh Valleys. I work outdoors, mostly on farms, walling, fencing, and general repair work. I was a focused on my rugby, but a knee injury has put me on the sidelines for good. In the off-seasons, when finance allowed, I took to the mountains: mostly Asia and the Himalayas. I took to reading whilst recovering from my surgery. It's becoming a big thing. As one door closes, another door opens.
When in hospital I convinced the lady with the tea trolley I was able to push the tea trolley around the ward for her (make life a little easier). Hold on and hop, I thinks. Caught red-handed by the physio - he was not happy. I've never been a telly addict and so I was tearing my hair out. Never crossed my mind to pick up a book. I only ever read rugby and outdoor (mountaineering) mags. My physio gave me a book (GCHQ) and said, that'll keep you still. It did; and now I'm...
Welcome to the group Peter! Lots of recommendations here in the monthly reads posts and the JF/NR (just finished now reading) topic.
Hi to everyone.I'm a surveyor, I own a sea kayak, live within a stone's throw of the briny and luckily work in coastal surveying.
I yearn for fiction that asks me think: join-the-dots, figure what is happening, where the plot is taking me.
Hi everyone, my name is Anna and I am based in Western Europe. I loved reading as a teenager, but later lost this habit. Recently I picked it up again with a newfound passion and I am eager to find the best mystery and thriller books to upkeep this hobby. I am excited to be a part of this group sharing similar interests!
Hello Fellow Authors and Booklovers,My name is Pat Spencer. My novel, Story of a Stolen Girl, was inspired by the stories I heard from trafficking survivors. If you like suspense, twisty turns, and strong women, I think you'll enjoy Story of a Stolen Girl. Check it it. I'd love to hear what you think! Pat

Welcome Peter, Mark, and Anna! I think you will like it here. Always great recommendations being passed around.
Hello to all the Mystery/Thriller Reading Friends group members, and may I especially thank Peter for his kind invitation. I am the author of the novel The Flower Bed, which was published in April 2024. The Flower Bed is the first book I have published; however, it should have been published three years ago, but it wasn't because I suffered severe PTSD and MDD after finding my late mother dead on the floor of her apartment four days after Christmas Day in 2020. Not only did The Flower Bed not get published because of my illness, but I also could not practise law as a barrister for 18 months while I was being treated. Thankfully, my wife and daughter helped me return from the dark void I had fallen into, and The Flower Bed is now a reality. I am presently writing my second novel, which invariably is interrupted by the exigencies of my practice. I look forward to discussing books with group members. Warm wishes,
Michael Springer- Author The Flower Bed https://echobooks.com.au/our-books/th...
Welcome to JRR, Mitch, Peter, Mark, Anna, Pat, and new author Michael. I look forward to your sharing your reading thoughts on the appropriate threads on this board.
Welcome to the board Michael. Congratulations on your new book, and condolences on the loss of your Mother and subsequent illness. It's good that you are able to be back writing and working again. Hi everyone,My name is Valerie and I live near Montreal in Canada. I'm an administrative assistant in a lawyer's firm by day and a psychic mysteries and Gothic stories author by...well, morning and lunchtime (I'm too pooped at night to write).
Lately, I've been wanting to join a reading group because I'd love to discuss the books I read and very few people around me read (and the few who do don't read the same stuff I do.)
I'm a fan of Stuart Turton's twisty mysteries, am always up for a good Simone St. James novel, and I absolutely love anything Poe.
So that's me in a nutshell! Looking forward to being a part of this group! ^_^
Hi, I'm Jenny,At present I'm, unfortunately, marooned in a big city of Scotland. Where I'm living, it's not safe in the evenings. I will head south as soon as I can but, for now reading is what I'm at. It would be good to make friends.
Welcome to the group Valerie and Jenny, we love chatting about the books we are reading and happen to have a Stuart Turton book next up as a group read. Happy to have you join us in the discussions. We have also read a couple of Simone St. James novels as group reads. She is a favorite of mine.
Thank you, Ann! Happy to be here. I like Simone St. James too, it's always a fun read. Looking forward to discussing books with all of you!
Hi,I'm from the UK and have decided being at home and reading is now the better choice for my leisure time.

HI! I am Ivy. I am a big mystery reader. My mother gave me a Nancy Drew for a birthday gift, and I have been hooked ever since. Love seeing how the mystery gets solved.
Welcome to the group Ivy! Nancy Drew was a favorite of mine too. I still remember getting to choose a new one at a bookstore.
Welcome, Ivy, and glad to see you are already posting! Good luck with your Determination List.Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden were my early entries, and I never looked back!
Hi Everyone, I'm Hazel. If I'm not working (in a water sports centre), I'm on the water, or in the water, (unintentionally a lot of the time) or reading. They're a strange lot, the on the water set. You can get soaked through on a water ski, yet should you fall in, the first thing asked when you come ashore is, "Get wet, then?"My favourite books are thrillers that make good sense and books that I can learn from.
Hello Everyone, I'm Bianca.People called me, "Bee": just the once. First, they get the icy stare, then the bitten lip, then the grinding of the teeth, then the polite request they do not refer to me as an insect.
I'm in Glasgow, Scotland. Thank you for letting me join your group. I'm now reading every night. The TV went out the window (not literally - I'm not strong enough for that). The library here is free to join - yippee. I'm trying to read travel, history, historical fiction and thrillers/suspense/adventure.
Welcome to the group Bianca, I hope you will enjoy the conversations here! Libraries are the best, aren't they!

Hello, I’m Hailey from California. Just getting back into reading for fun. I’m an auditory learner, so reading was difficult for me when I was younger. I’ve been utilizing audiobooks along with reading. I joined the group in hopes of finding new favorite authors. Lately I’ve been reading books by Sarah Denzil, and really enjoying them.
