Welcome Martha! We have some fun discussions here. The JF NR thread (just finished / now read) is a good place to start and the group read discussions are usually lively.

Decided to go back to my old AOL reading group screen name, Dan in AZ. Never did like Good Reads suggestion of Daniel to coincide with author info.
No, I have moved on. I'm into Feng Shui now. So far I've learned to face East if I want to see the sun rise. Beyond that, it gets a little complicated for me.
Dan in AZ wrote: "No, I have moved on. I'm into Feng Shui now. So far I've learned to face East if I want to see the sun rise. Beyond that, it gets a little complicated for me."So have you read The Feng Shui Detective, Dan? It's the first book in a series.
I would add that there is a lot of wisdom to be gained by facing East. ;-)Dan in AZ wrote: "No, I have moved on. I'm into Feng Shui now. So far I've learned to face East if I want to see the sun rise. Beyond that, it gets a little complicated for me."

Hi I am Debodyuti from India. I just completed my fourth year as a graduate and now I am waiting for my joining at a particular firm. So I have plenty of time to read. And they (Mystery/Thriller) are my favourite genres. So I hope I'll have fun. Glad to be a part of this group.
Welcome, Debodyuti. If you have read Sacred Games by Chandra I'd be interested in your comments on it.
Hi Debodyuti! Welcome to our little group. Congratulations on your new job; we look forward to hearing about all the mysteries and thrillers you can jam in before you start.
How exciting, and Welcome to the group Debodyuti!Having some extra time to read sounds good to me. Who are some of your favorite authors?

G'day all,Thought I'd better drop in and say hello. I'm an Aussie author living all the way over in Perth, Western Australia. I haven't really been so involved with Good Reads until now. I always thought it looked like a huge rabbit hole where you could easily get lost.
However, after exploring it while promoting the upcoming release of my new book Deadly Messengers , I realised what a great place this is. I've now got it all worked out and having fun in the groups and connecting with people all over the place.
I'm quite busy at the moment with the launch, but I will be sure to get back here and hang out once that is over end of September.
I've put my book in your area looking for early readers, so please do ask away for an early copy. It's receiving some wonderful, very humbling reviews.
Take care,
Susan May
Nice to meet you Susan! Good luck with the book launch and we look forward to chatting about books with you soon.
Hi! I just joined this group and figured I'd better introduce my self. I was so excited to find a group discussing "Spider's Web", that I couldn't resist joining you guys ! Also notice your next selection is one on my TBR list, as well .My taste in literature is fairly eclectic , as I read a number of different genres. Can't say I have a favorite, nor do I really have a favorite author. I just love a good book and really enjoy discussing books I've read. I participate in a couple of other groups on goodreads.
I am really looking forward to participating in this one !
Mary: We are excited to have you join us too. Jump right in where ever you like and we look forward to hearing your thoughts on the group reads and other book talk! We have pretty eclectic tastes too. :)

Hi Mary and Susan!I hope you both find places here to discuss your favorite books! Mary, I look forward to your comments on The Girl in the Spider's Web.
Dan in AZ wrote: "Welcome, Debodyuti. If you have read Sacred Games by Chandra I'd be interested in your comments on it."Sacred Games was based on the twisted violence of the 1947 partition of India to the specter of nuclear terrorism.
If you have already read it, then I will recommend you to read Dongri To Dubai : Six Decades of The Mumbai Mafia
It's a non-fiction, real story and all about organised crime.

👋🏼 Hi! I’m Jess from Minnesota. I’m happy to have found this group. I was always a reader as a kid and early adulthood but stopped for many years. In the last year I’ve gotten back into it and have read 29 books so far this year. I love mystery thrillers, fantasy, time travel, science fiction and historical fiction. I’m an introvert to the core but I look forward to meeting others with a passion for reading.
Welcome to the group Jess, you will fit right in. We look forward to hearing about the books you are reading,Jess wrote: "👋🏼 Hi! I’m Jess from Minnesota. I’m happy to have found this group. Hello, I’m John. I took early retirement and with a large garden/orchard I have become almost self sufficient: my responsibilities at present rest with a small group of not-so-able hedgehogs. The neighbours became aware that I was caring for a hog with one-eye and a hospice seemed to blossom from there. Returning to university, I read history and that led me to such works as: The Great Game - The Struggle for Empire in Central Asia, On Secret Service East of Constantinople - The Plot to Bring Down the British Empire, and the like; all of which gripped me and I class as exceptional thriller/suspense/mysteries. My grandmother on my mother’s side was a White Russian and as youngster she left Russia in 1921, under the care of her father and mother. Her father was killed in Ukraine; and so she made the crossing from France to Blighty with her mother in November of 1923. From their accounts the journey across Europe was most harrowing. My mother has the family book and the the dairies of both her grandparents. I have often thought of creating a manuscript from those, but feel unqualified and not able to do justice to their story. There is no mention in my great-grandparent’s memoirs of escape lines and safe houses, but my grandmother, during her later years with what she excused as her failing memory, often spoke of ‘the kindest of people’ and how they are the only reason she survived. I spend time researching escape-lines, underground networks and life-in-the shadows. I won’t claim a need to find evidence of who might have helped my grandmother, as I am content with a desire to more fully understand the ways and means by which many sought to resist oppression even in the face of the great risk to them and their family. I yearn for well-researched, real-life thrillers focused on 20th Century Europe.
John: welcome to the group! What an interesting family history and current gardening /hedgehog support activities you have. It's easy to see where your interest in 20th Century European thrillers was generated. Those family diaries are treasures.

Hi all! My name’s Chelsea, I live in Las Vegas but am from California- yes, I’m one of those who moved to escape the cost of living, and so far no regrets 😊 I try to diversify my reading but mysteries and thrillers have my heart- any time I read something else, I find myself feeling homesick. Looking forward to making some friends and reading some amazing books!

Welcome Chelsea! I've been to LV once, when the Bouchercon Mystery/Thriller Book conference was there. Fond memories. Hope you find a home here!
welcome to the group Chelsea. You found a great group of people some of us have been together for years.
Hello! My name is Emily and I’m trying to get into reading again. I’ve recently been able to read a book completely (finally haha!) called Verity by Colleen Hoover and really liked it. I’m hoping I can find more book recommendations here that make me not want to put the book down, and end up recommending some of my own in the future!
