The Lost Challenges discussion

In essence I can have started a book for each letter in Thunderbolt and as long as I finish it ..."
So I could start a book for each letter of Thunderbolt and leave only a couple of pages to read for each on the start date and that would be okay?
I'm only in a few team challenges and they all have to be read after the start for the week but it's also the same for all the challenges I do alone but with others that are monthly, quarterly, etc that you can't start the book until the challenge does.

Yes

Yes

Do we also write a review for each book we read for this challenge?
I do anyway on Goodreads for all books I read or is it sufficient for us to post to Danielle's spreadsheet that she made up for our team (Romans)and our own shelf for the challenge (that you helped me with) and then she posts on the team ones that you've set up?

Thanks - that's what I was hoping you'd say.

You don't have to post a review just post that you read it , how many pages and if any of the pantheons are in the book

ZEUS-Lightning (9 letters)
JUPITER-Thunderbolt (11 letters)
ODIN-Knowledge (9 letters)
ISIS-Motherhood (10 letters)
MORRIGAN-Shapechanger (12 letters)
Any thoughts on this?
Do you want other members to throw in a suggestion or two?
One way may be to have teams with the fewer letters have a free read for the number of missing letters each week which would have to have the minimum pages
i.e. Zeus and Odin need to read 3 extra "free choice" books, Isis 2 books and Jupiter 1 or
let the teams with more letters in their powers choose which letters each time they are completing their power not to read and then all teams would be reading 9 books per power - like a free pass
i.e. Morrigan 3 books; Jupiter 2 books, Zeus and Odin 1 book

I like the first idea also at first look, but then the teams with shorter letters will not have to target letters to get their full word credit, but the others will.
Perhaps modifying it to be that they need to read the additional books, but it needs to match a letter already existing in their power.

How do y'all feel about having a another bonus points? Like if you read a book with and of the powers in the title of the book or in the series name you get bonus points. I am still trying to work out the points. Might change the amount points the teams need to get to win.

I like that idea a lot! It will give teams incentive to read books that really pertain to this challenge.
100 points when you finish the word
25 points for 150 pages and 125 pages for children books
30 points for 155 pages to 300 pages books
35 points for 500 pages books
50 points for books with the Pantheon as the main theme
50 points for books with the powers in the title or series name
And I will have mini challenges also through out the game. I am working on those now.
How does that look? If y'all think there is a better break down feel free to say. I am looking for all the help I can get.

Pages would be determined by what's posted on Goodreads only?

Once all the rules are determined can they be placed somewhere at the beginning of a thread so we all know the points involved? Would hate for someone to be assigning an incorrect point value to what they've read.

I always thought since these are Goodreads challenges we had to abide by series names/#s, page #s, etc.

Challenges Break Down
Each book read for the challenge is worth 10 points
Also, I know you can read a book only once per challenge but can more than one person on the team read the same book and get points for it?

Hi JoAnne - I'm not Lizz, but I thought I would give just a little more background info here that may be of help. It is becoming more and more of a practice I think for the team challenges to go by the "read date" or date a player finished reading a book, rather than the start and finish date because it makes it much, much easier for the moderators. I'm involved in at least three other team challenges right now that follow this same practice. So while it may not seem a very common thing to do, it seems to be the norm more and more rather than not.
Again, I'm just providing the info to help, so I hope that is okay :)
