Famine (wolfcreed) | 134 comments I'm looking for a thick-ish softcover book I read in the late 90s, early millennium, in Australia. It had a silver cover with hyper-realistic art of a boy, the book showcased short horror stories by different authors, it MAY have included Stephen King, or at least had a foreword by him or someone else like Dean Koontz.

One story I remember was about a boy or a girl living in a poor/slum apartment block, spied on the landlord sneaking out at night to steal from others, and eventually killed him. The kid was obsessed with taking animals apart in live dissection experiments, and did the same to the landlord to satisfy his or her obsession in finding out what was 'inside'.

Another story was about a sadistic girl who got given playmates to have fun with before torturing and killing them, but meets her match and is murdered by her last 'present'.

Wolfrott, I'm moving your request to the UNSOLVED folder because you're looking for a specific book.

Good luck!

Daphne | 247 comments The second one reminds me of "A Toy For Juliette", by Robert Bloch. It was published in Dangerous Visions.
