Cathy, that's a good description of your book.

Is it A Flicker of Light by Roberta Kagan?

Great! Glad you found your book.

I moved your request to the "Adult Fiction-SOLVED" folder. Yes, you would click the EDIT link at the top and select a Solved folder. By the way, this only works if you're on a desktop computer; the mobile website doesn't have this option.

Cathy | 6 comments Thank you for your help in looking for the book and in moving it to the right folder. When I looked in my own Goodreads under read books I did not see it, I don't know why it did not show. The way I found it was putting up a search term of WWII books and scrolling the list until I saw ones I had marked as read. I really want to know why that did not show up under my Goodreads. I thought all the books I keep track of here would be there? Would you know? Or who should I ask?

You're welcome. I can't say for sure about your Read books as your profile is private and not viewable.

If you're searching just the My Books page (using the search box beside the "Batch Edit" link), I think it only checks for words in the book's title and author - not the book description.

Here's one way to check if a book is in your Read list:

- In the Search box at the very top (besides "Goodreads"), type the book title. Include the author's name if it's a common title.
- In the results that follow, if a book is in your Read list, you will likely see a "[check mark] Read" button to the right.

Cathy | 6 comments When I was looking I filtered by my list of books Read. For some reason it lists 478 books and I just scrolled down and tried to see if any of them would ding a bell in the far recesses of my mind. None did. And this one was not among the 478 so now I don't think I trust Goodreads. I have been reading ebooks since 2012 and I am pretty sure I have read more books than that. sigh.

I know these book lists get really long! Have you tried categorizing your books with shelves or tags (e.g., mystery, historical, non-fiction)? This can help shorten the search on the My Books page. But it does take some effort to add these tags to existing and new books. (You click the "Edit" link in the Shelves column of My Books.)
