Micah Rose | 5 comments Number 5: Lies And Weddings - Kevin Kwan

Released just a couple weeks ago, this grandiose tale of Eden, a young doctor, and Rufus, an heir (a Count) to the Greshambury fortune, features gorgeously crafted, larger than life settings, and more drama than Housewives.

Number 4: Bookshops & Bonedust - Travis Baldree

The follow-up to Legends & Lattes, we meet Viv in the past as she is forced to recoup from an injury in a small, Oceanside village. Quaint atmosphere, and a fun mystery. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll read a book.

Number 3: A Prayer For The Crown-Shy - Becky Chambers

Another sequel, this time to “A Psalm For The Wild-Bult” in which we immediately catch-up to Dex & Mosscap as they make the first human-robot contact in generations. Deeply philosophical and gentle for a cozy afternoon.

Number 2: Yellowface - R. F. Kuang

This laugh-out-loud, and deeply disturbing novel can only be summed as: WTF. What if your greatest rival died in front of you? Would you help? Would you steal their legacy? An addictive touchstone on race, prejudice, success & fame.

Number 1: The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi - Shannon Chakraborty

A slow-burn into an epic, acid trip, with pirates, sex-demons, and dancing starfish. Chanraborty transports you to a world like our own… with some minor differences. A swirling nautical tale of adventure, regret, love, and doing whatever it takes to keep those closest to you safe.

message 12: by Janey (new)

Janey (janeyolivia) This was my first year really getting back into reading so I read a bunch of really popular series/books.

1. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Read this at the start of the year and it introduced me to my love of young adult fantasy. High stakes heist with lovable characters. It’s my favourite of all time!
2. Vicious by V. E. Schwab
A perfectly crafted revenge story with found family and superpowers. What more could you want?
3. The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
This one is pretty fresh in my mind so it might be rating it higher than I would in a few months but I absolutely adored this book. I have a love for greek mythology (thanks Percy Jackson) and it was so beautifully written.
4. The Wicked King by Holly Black
One of the book series I think about daily, it’s the second book in the Cruel Prince trilogy. The fae in the book are amazing, the characters are mean and cruel in the best way possible, and the politics is great.
5. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
The second book in The Six of Crows duo. Again, we return to lovable characters and an interesting setting. I didn’t love this as must as Six of Crows but I still adored this book. We follow a revenge plot line this time instead of a heist.
