Should I read the cruel prince trilogy

This book series is super popular and has been recommended to me by so many people, but I’m hesitant to read it because I’ve heard some pretty terrible things about Cardann. Like he watched his friends bully and harass Jude. And I’m not sure if I can get down with that. Also he has a tail….

Also this is more a political fantasy than a romance fantasy but people say it is worth it just for Jude and Cardann.

I’d just like your input if you’ve read the books. I’m okay with minor spoilers.

ok so all of the cardan stuff is super valid, but it is explained in the series why he acts like that and he has a major character arc. the writing style is so amazing and holly black has a way of really painting a picture with her words. i really enjoyed the series, but i and biased because the series is exactly my type of genre. i would go with your gut on this one, but if you have read of like books like a court of throns and roses of even something similar to the grishaverse then you might want to give it a try…😅😅

there is literally no politics in the whole series T_T do not worry about that...i found the first 60% of cruel prince agonising maybe because it was my first ever fantasy read although I fairly enjoyed the other two books im glad that i read the series free online and did not spend my money on it...if you like fantasy genre then sure go for it :))

omg yes. cardan and jude were perfect and the plot twists were insane. also jude is pretty much the best fmc ever

i wasn't a huge fan of this series. i read it because i heard all the hype over it but i think that made my expectations something completely different than the books. it's definitely not a romantasy (romance fantasy) and if i knew that going into i may have liked it more. another thing, which is really my opinion, is i wasn't a fan of jude so this made the books very iffy for me. most people ive talked to weren't huge fans of this series either, however i have one friend that will defend it to her death. i didn't find the plot twists very plot twisty though, only one. most of them i didn't even realize were plot twists till after i looked up the books on tiktok.all that being said, holly black does do an amazing job at world building. the world itself had me hooked and i understood it all from the get go. all this aside, it is fully your choice and these were just some of my thoughts and opinions. if you want to read it, by all means. even though i didn't like it that much, i am glad i read it (i had fomo).

*SPOILERS* this is one of my absolute FAVORITE book series ever! i’ve reread, and it was just as good if not better the second time! the relationship between cardan and jude had me throughout the whole thing. “will-they’s and won’t-they’s” 💗💗💗 i love this series soooo much, and while some things that cardan and his group do may be questionable, most of it is explained. 📚📚📚📚📚
