Gabby (garlick) | 4 comments Okay, so I read this book in 2007. It was not a new book, maybe from the 90's. it was a fantasy adventure story where a young girl is a servant in this kingdom surrounded by desert. the kingdom is run by an emperor or king, and they have an enormous extended royal family; like we'r talking about tons of daughters and sons and cousins and uncle. Young girl works as a servant till one day a foreigner descends from the sky in a hot air balloon. He is a prince who has come to find his betrothed whom this kingdom promised him. The matriach of the royal family approaches the servant girl and reveals that her parents were part of the royal family but they did something wrong were killed, and she was placed as servant. but she was the actual betrothed of the prince. the girl is very overwhelmed but runs away with the handsome prince and they leave for his land. along the way they meet tribes of people who live in the desert. the young girl is going through a lot of emotional stuff i can't quiet recall. anyway, they get to the prince's home and it turns out that the prince wanted his betrothed b/c his wife will be this fortune telling leader person; but he was inlove with someone else whom he didn't want to be this fortune telling leader. this someone is super pretty and named "moon something", i can't quiet remember. Any way, that the gist, it seems really confusing but if anyone had any idea what it is title please let me know.

Aimed at children, YA, or adult? Illustrations, or none? Cover art?

Wolf Tower by Tanith Lee seems to match your description.

There's a fairly detailed description on Wikipedia:

Great! Glad we could help. :)

It's a popular book - requested by at least three other members.
