Help please fantasy book I read long time ago

Help i read a book over 14 years ago and i cant remember the title, all i can remember is it roughly starts out with a man waking up, his arm grown back, his wife is turned into a flying monster lady, his son can summon a shadow wolf out of his chest, later find out two kings went to fight and ate locked in stasis and the continent fell asleep because of magic and when everyone awoke some had magic abilities.
