Is the ACOTAR series one of those series that's just full of fillers and the plot becomes a waste?

I'm a full time student and I always don't have much time for reading. I'm tired a lot and don't want to read anything that takes a lot of energy to read, you know? I want to read a fantasy book/series and came across the ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas. I hear they're good but REALLY long. Plus, the series is said to be ongoing. I'm worries that the series is one of those that have excessively long and half the books are just fillers. Thoughts?

The only book that is a filler is the starlight/novella book. All of the others have important plot points and keeps your attention the whole time. I am a grad student and have a full time job and flew through all of them. They are worth it!

Soooo I recently read Books 1-3 and I'm on the opposite.
I kinda understand the hype about the books but in my opinion... it's a bit overhyped and not really worth it. specially after book 3 i "finished" the series - because the actual story/"main plot" is over and it's no longer interesting for me to read epilogues (Book 4) or find out more about the other characters (Book 5).

To be more precise:
- Book 1 is a good book. It's just the start of the series, so there's a little bit of world-building and understanding, but nice development.
- Book 2 is soooo much better. I really liked this a lottt more.
- So after that, I was really exited for book 3.. and then it began. Fillers after fillers, a little bit to be roughly speaking - it drags on a bit and developments take place very slowly for me (u can read like the first 1/4 of the book and then skip to the last few chapters, in my opinion, and didnt really miss a lot). I was thinking about to DNF, but there were only 15-20% left so I get through it and and these last percent were at least somewhat meaningful and exciting. (Unless you are very interested in "war developments", politics etc., then book 3 will keep you captivated throughout - if not it's a bit .. clumsy? (im not a native speaker, dont know which description/vocabulary would fit best 🫣)

I don't want to spoilers to much, so its not so easy to give a real statement without spoiling some important things.
In retrospect, it simply dragged on unnecessarily and ended up clichéd with a quick and unsatisfactory, superficial ending. 🙃

Hope I can help at least a little bit and I'm also open for discussion 😇

If you guys want a really good book, especially after reading ACOTAR, then Crescent City is your man (book?).
Adventure, BIIIIIIG reveals, romance (although the spice is mostly in the second and third one), and a very very very strong lead character. My favourite book of all times and the series is complete after the third one. No drag, little fillers. I just finished re-re-reading the series and was still squealing in my bed (no shame, we all do it).
Good luck finding a good book!

Books 1 - 3 were good. However i ended up p putting book 4 in my DNF pile. Also book 3 was looooong. Like 70 something chapters. Honestly could've made 2 books out of that. I felt book 3 was a good ending to the story and really struggled with book 4 until i just became uninterested in the story and gave up.
