Not finished with this part yet, but I just have to comment...
Kruppe--what can one say about Kruppe? He is being taken a bit more seriously now, and withstanding Brood's hammer strike ought to increase the respect with which others view him.
And we get some interesting history/revelations about the older races.
Gruntle--what a transformation! Vengeance personified.
Itkovian and Brukhalian--truly heroic figures.
The taking of Capustan was so intense--I felt like I held my breath through all of Chapter 16!

I love all the parts with Kruppe! I know everyone gets annoyed with him, but all the language is so fun to read.

Oh, I only found him annoying at first in Gardens of the Moon. He sort of grew on me and I've gotten accustomed to his manner of speaking. He is such an interesting character--many layers, I think.

Oh, right!
Oh, right!
So, who do you think is the alien god that gets entangled with Itkovian as he is embracing Rath'Fener's grief? My first thought was the Crippled God but it didn't "feel" like him, based on what we've seen so far.
Hmmmm...I'm really not sure. That's the thing about these books, there is just so much going on it's hard to know anything for sure. The only "mystery character" I guessed on was the Knight with the sword hands, who I think must be Baudin (is that in this part? it isn't a spoiler, but my comment will make less than no sense if you haven't got there yet) I think that might be in Part 4...darn I get so confused!
Chapter 16 is probably my favorite scene in the whole series...made me bawl like a baby."With great joy, sir"
and Stonny....
I also really appreciate the alignment so to speak of the rise of Trake and the demise of F'ener...Just an action packed section, in a lot of ways

i think the great thing about them is that you can see their relationship developing...it makes sense, not just a one look at each other and we are in love, but honest respect.
in actually a chapter on from this. Poor To, Mhybe, the Tlan Imass - everybody!! I delved back in this morning worried is have forgotten it but memories came flooding back. It's such an emotional journey. Itkovian was so brave, I was on the edge of my seat trading his scenes.
