I’m really excited about the prequel Sunrise on the Reaping! The idea of going back to Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games is so fascinating, especially seeing how the world was shaped before the games became what we know. I think it's interesting to see the early days of the Capitol and the first signs of the power struggles that led to the events of the original series.
I did read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and thought it was a great way to understand Coriolanus Snow’s background, even if it was a bit unsettling to see how he developed into the villain we know. I also watched the movie, and I thought it was a good adaptation, though there were some parts of the book that I felt could have been explored more.
I personally enjoy prequels because they give more depth to the original story and help us understand how the characters and world evolved. But at the same time, I do get the feeling that a series like The Hunger Games can only go so far before it feels stretched out. Still, I’m happy to seeing how Sunrise on the Reaping dives into the past and how it shapes our understanding of Panem’s future.
Looking forward to hearing others’ thoughts!
Best,

Hi,
I have not read this yet, but I am excited to read this. I read "Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes." And...finally had the chance to see the movie version. I like prequels. I agree, I find it so interesting to see how villains became villains and evolved to the people they became. It changes my whole perspective on why these characters allowed hate and evil consume them. There is a reason for everything and with every book and movie, I've learned to open my heart and be more understanding and less judgemental on the villains. I give some deeper reflection on their behavior, because we all become the people we are from our life experiences?
I would've liked to have seen the movie "Ballads" been a part one and two, to allow more time to know more about Coriolanus. He's fascinating. In addition, Lucy Gray Baird, uniquely interesting. I'm glad Suzanne Collins has offered more story to these characters, the history etc. The beauty of a story, even heartbreaking is a read I am willing to take, a reader's journey!
Thanks for sharing! I'm hoping for more from this series.
Have a good weekend.
Sincerley,
-Donna

If you are a "Hunger Games" fan, what are your thoughts about the new, upcoming prequel book and movie "Sunrise on the Reaping" by Suzanne Collins in 2025 & 2026? The return to Panem, a land made up of 12 districts and the choosing of participants. The story takes place 24 years before book #1 of the popular series.
How do you feel about the news of a new book and movie? Did you read "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" Watch the movie? Are you fan of prequels?
I have enjoyed this entire series. It was interesting to develop a different perspective on Coriolanus Snow (President Snow) and how he became the unforgettable villain in the prequel.
I am personally selfish in that I like stories to go on forever and never end. The prequels give life to the never-ending thought of these unique characters and these imaginary lands and plots.
What are your thoughts about more prequel stories for the Hunger Games series?
Have a good day.
Sincerely,
-Donna
