Hmmm...I see you like Ghibli so a book I like to suggest is from one of my favorite movies "The Cat Returns" and if you are curious there is an oversized Nausicaa book set too.
Baron: The Cat Returns
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind: The Complete Series
For romance I always suggest the sweet and awkward tale in My Love Story!!, Vol. 1 though there are plenty of romance titles out there that are not always cozy.some others i liked are the yuri The Witches' Marriage Vol. 1 and A Sign of Affection, Vol. 1 which deals with overcoming a language barrier due to one of the people is deaf and the other decides to learn sign language.
As for fairy stuff there are a few I can think of but not all of them are happy stories or are a bit older so I am not sure if they are even available any more. I do know that if you like Disney stuff the manga group Tokyopop released a bunch of manga adaptations from many of the movies/series including some from the Faeries franchise which originated in Peter Pan. I found at least some of them on Amazon for the Kindle as seen below.

I started with punpun bc a friend of mine recomended it to me, i enjoyed it bc of the art.
Thank you for your time <333

I really like Claymore for its art and story, The Summer Hikaru Died is a new manga that is about to get an anime adaptation and it’s quite interesting.
For older series some of the classics are Berserk, Monster.. I have not read those yet though.
Another one I’ve been enjoying is Firefly Wedding, it’s biweekly and has about 35+ chapters right now.

No problem. There are a lot of stories out there so it is always good to ask for suggestions. :)
For a general selection based on art and story I would suggest the works of Naoki Urasawa who has done some pretty good psychological works in a variety of styles with realistic people (Monster: Perfect Edition, Vol. 1. 20th Century Boys: The Perfect Edition, Vol. 1, and PLUTO: Urasawa x Tezuka, Vol. 1) and the works of Kaoru Mori who is presently releasing A Bride's Story, Vol. 1 which is about the relations of people who live around the Silk Road. She also created Emma, Vol. 1 which does have an anime if you want to check it out on Crunchyroll about an educated maid who captures the heart of a man of a different social stature and deals with the conflicts of a society trying to keep them apart. https://www.crunchyroll.com/series/GY...
Recently I just started reading We Never Learn, Vol. 1 which is a romantic comedy about a boy working hard to get a college scholarship to help his poor family. He gets roped into teaching two girls who are geniuses in certain subjects how to get into the schools they want to attend since the things they want to do have nothing to do with their specialties. So far it has been a fun read. :)

Berserk is pretty dark considering the main character constantly has to fight against demons thanks to the mark left on his body.
I can verify Monster is a really good series though it can be a bit on the dark side too since it deals with people being manipulated into doing horrible things and deals with brainwashing and murder.
Have you tried the works of Rumiko Takahashi? I just ordered Seasons 1 and 2 off of Amazon last night of Urusei Yatsura because they were on sale but she is also the creator of other manga turned animated series such as Ranma 1/2 (2-in-1 Edition), Vol. 1: Includes Volumes 1 & 2, Inuyasha. VizBig Edition, Volume 1: Pulled Through Time!, and as mentioned before Urusei Yatsura, Vol. 1.
Another realistic and nicely drawn series you both might enjoy is Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, Vol. 1 which also has an anime on Netflix. It is about a plague wiping out a large portion of a predominately male dominated society resulting in men being hoarded to protect them while society is forced to recognize women are equally if not more important to society since the plague does not affect them.
