Also managed to lose all the lead I had gained from the first week. Its been crazy around here! The front of the house that we live in is getting painted, which means we had to move out for a week, but I still managed to smash my face in on the scaffolding before that. Its a mess. Anyway I still plan to finish this challenge up!! No minor concussion is going to keep me from my books!!

Dark Desires After Dusk****

This book was great. This time Cole combined the unapologetic sexy, sloppy badass rage demon Cadeon with the serious PHD candidate with OCD Holly, and she makes it work! This book was exciting and funny. Cade is sexy as hell and he knows it, Holly grows into being his perfect counterpart. There was tension through out the book, not many sex scenes though but the ones present were very hot indeed.
A very entertaining book, 4 stars. Am looking forward to Rydstrom's story...

Amelia--um, where are the door knobs? If they are at my in-laws, then they are really great (220+ year old house, with crystal and porcelain doorknobs). If, on the other hand you are talking about the ones in MY house, well, that's really boring. Just plain old brass coloured ones here.

MARTINA'S UPDATE: 9/9 COMPLETED! FINISHED! YAY!

Just finished Angel of Mercy *****(character: Mercy Hollings) by Toni Andrews to finish my set this month. This is the second book in the Mercy Hollings series, with the first one being Beg for Mercy. Genre is firmly Urban Fantasy, but Mercy has a tangle or two between the sheets which is enough to keep me happy. :-) The story does pick up where book 1 left off, so make sure to read them in order if you're interested. Mercy is a strong, but humanly flawed female lead with a mysterious background and even more mysterious psychic powers. She's got a band of wacky & diverse friends and a mystery to solve to keep you reading. Although, in this book the topic isn't for the faint of heart: Mercy gets involved in a shelter for battered and abused women & children. The writing isn't terribly graphic, but it can be a sensitive topic for some readers.

In general, if you like the mystery/thriller-type books with a strong female lead, but not necessarily a male counterpart and a touch of the paranormal thrown in, you'll like this series.

I gave Soulless by Gail Carriger five stars. I love the world building, and have always liked sci-fi/ steampunk stories. It's a different kind of paranormal romance for sure. It has in addition to vampires and werewolves, humor, science and technology. I'm really looking forward to the next one in the Parasol Protectorate series. Sadly, I'm moving very slowly with this month's challenge. I'll be starting At Grave's End next.

Amelia, after this challenge, I read that book, I had to read the 3 after it. I really liked that whole series. At first, I was mad with the 3rd book because it ended in a really good spot, but the 4th picked up right where it left off. I really liked Mercy's character. I love the whole PNR section because each book has it's own set of rules.
