Sigh... I picked up a copy of Dragon Age: Origins over the weekend and haven't picked up a book since, spending all of my free time on my 360. Must get back in gear because having only one book completed on the 13th is going to leave me awfully rushed to finish. =/

Did you see the trailer with the 30 Seconds to Mars song playing? Made me want it even more but I'm hoping my boyfriend will buy it so I can spend my money on books, ha. I've been hooked on Uncharted 2 for a while now and that's been eating up a lot of my reading time as well. It's hard having multiple hobbies!

I haven't and although I saw in the user guide that they're in it - I've spent over 24 hours in the game so far and have yet to hear a peep from Jared Leto. =( And I totally understand, we've also got copies of Uncharted 2, the new Forza and Modern Warfare waiting to be played as well.

MARTINA'S UPDATE: 5 COMPLETED

Just finished Heroes at Risk by Moira J. Moore and while it isn't a strict PNR, it still sorta qualifies by having magical/supernaturalish activities and romance between the two main characters. But, it takes place on another world.

I like the series (of which this is the 4th book) in general, but found this one moved a bit slowly for my taste. IMO, they've been going steadily downhill, so I'm not sure yet if I'll pick up the 5th one. Although I'm sure I will since #4 ended with a bit of a cliffhanger. :-)

Mrs. Soule, I forgot that it started out so slowly - I do recall thinking 'Get on with it already!' I listened to the audiobook version, so can't tell you how many pages in before it really takes off, but it does! Has Ivan gone to visit his cousin yet? It gets really interesting shortly after that.
Here's the review I wrote. There's a mild spoiler in it, so if you don't like spoilers of any kind, don't read on!

'A delightful tale of a Russian Sleeping Beauty and the modern-day grad student who wakens her, saves her from the magic bear who's been 'guarding' her, and travels back with her to the 9th century. While in Russia, Ivan, who also happens to excel in track-and-field, has been studying ancient Russian dialects; both of these skills will prove invaluable to him as he and the princess travel back and forth in time to elude Baba Yaga and try to find ways to defeat her and save Katerina's kingdom and its people.

When I read a book like this, I just like to enjoy it, not analyze it. This was just a lot of fun to listen to, and I liked that parts of it were from Baba Yaga's POV - it didn't make her less of an ogre, but it did make her a more interesting ogre. And that, lo and behold, some people in modern times (relatives naturally) had plenty of magic. Well, why should magic only exist in ancient times?!'

MARTINA'S UPDATE: 6 COMPLETED

Just finished Big Bad Wolf (The Others Series) by Christine Warren (***1/2). This is generally one of my favorite PNR series and I was genuinely looking forward to this book as it's a prequel story of how Graham & Missy, an established couple in the other books, came to be.

Unfortunately, I found this novel to be literally half sex scenes that didn't really move the story forward. I would have loved it if there was less sex (and I RARELY say that!) and more involvement in the "politics" of the world of The Others. Maybe next time.
