So I finished
and I have to say it might be my favorite of the series so far. I noticed there wasn't that much focus on the plto and more on the characters but that turned out fine. :D

6/9. I was disappointed with NIGHT EMBRACE. I didn't connect with the characters like I did in the last couple Dark Hunter books.As for Mona Lisa, I am glad Cherra recommended it to me. I know it definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea -- it's full of sex and violence. However, I liked it and will be continiuing the series. It's similar to Meredith Gentry in a lot of ways...

Is Night Embrace the one with Talon? It was one of my least favorite too. I didn't like Sunshine at all. I LOVE Mona Lisa!!! I've read all the books out and they are some of my favorites, although the last one wasn't up to par.
Looloo -- yes, Night Embrace is the one with Talon. I didn't like Sunshine. It may have been in part because I listened to the audiobook in lieu of reading it in print. The narrator's voice for Sunshine kept making me think I was reading GONE WITH THE WIND.I am definitely looking forward to continuing the Mona Lisa series. Had to shuffle around all my books this month so I had an excuse to keep reading them ;)

Hey, I LOVE Alexander Baranov, King of Alaska. Ok, the only thing even CLOSE to pnr for this book is--its set in an alternate time line. One where Alaska did NOT become part of the U.S. and they DO have a royal family. This is the first of 3 books about the weird and wacky royal family of Alaska. I sit and giggle at them when I read them (and yes, this WAS a re-read.) I have read a lot of Davidson's work and have noticed that her female leads are all almost identical personality wise. Even Fred the Mermaid could have been almost a clone for Betsy. But since I LIKE her writing style and love her sense of humour, that doesn't bother me. This one got 5 stars, just because I really enjoy the humour (and when its cold, rainy and icky, that's something that's very important.)

YAY! I am glad you are liking the Mona Lisa series so far. I only recommended it to those who I knew had rated similar books positively because of the content.

I agree that Darkening wasn't as awesome as the rest of the series, but I still liked it. Did you get a chance to read the spin off series Lucinda, Darkly and Lucinda, Dangerously??

Cherra - yes, I've read both Lucinda books. They are just okay for me. Not as good as Mona Lisa.

It was hard for me to get through The Forest of Hands and Teeth. It is a creepy, timeless story (with zombie’s!) that some have compared to M. Night Shayamalan’s movie The Village. It was darker than I expected.

Way to go Annvelwis! I have Skinwalker still to read this month--glad to see you liked it.Also picked up The Lightening Thief at the library yesterday to read to the kids--I know it's young adult, but I figured it was on the low age end of YA. :)
