David and I are starting a buddy read for starting now! Everyone is welcome to join!

There are no set chapters per day, we just read at our own paces and start each post with how far along you are, i.e., Chapter #, %, using spoilers where needed. Have fun!

Jenny, I've read the first four chapters so far (83 pages). So incredibly good so far. (view spoiler)[I'm really loving her struggle with vampirism and "the monster" inside her. I'm so glad she didn't kill that woman when she was feeding, although I'm not sure if she would've been able to resist if not for the little kid showing up. Also, it's SO WEIRD to see her travelling with Jackal, especially after all their history. The whole weaving of the plot is so well done :) (hide spoiler)]

I'm up to Part 2, or page 125...and (view spoiler)[ I KNEW IT!! I had suspected at the end of the last book that Sarren would turn Zeke...WOWZA, this story took a dramatic turn! I agree, I also loved that whole struggle she was going through, has really been going through the whole series. I love the snarkiness and squabbling between Allison and Jackal! He really grew on me in the last book, although I don't completely trust him, and think Allison is smart to be wary. (hide spoiler)] SO GOOD so far!!

That's the exact point I finished at last night, Jenny! I couldn't agree more, I had a feeling (view spoiler)[we'd see Zeke again, and I love how it wasn't some heartwarming reunion (which wouldn't suit the series), but him attacking her LOL! (hide spoiler)]I apologize in advance for how slow I might be the rest of the way. My goal is 40-50 pages a day because I only read this after reading Game of Thrones for at least an hour and a half :P

No worries at all, David, I have other books I'm reading so I might also be reading this one a bit slow, if I can. Knowing me, though, I'll get hooked and won't be able to stop! I just love this series, and want it to last as long as possible! I think that's why I've waited so long to read this book, I bought it when it released.

And thanks Jenny, I read another 50 pages last night. I'm at chapter 10, page 173. (view spoiler)[Although this isn't really a unique plotline (it seems like so many books have the love interest become this crazy controlled robot- Four from Divergent, Jace from The Mortal Instruments), this version of it seems particularly intense, I think because of the whole vampire thing and the fact that they actually receive brutal injuries that they're able to survive. The scene with Zeke were insane! (hide spoiler)]

I'm up to page 210 now and (view spoiler)[ I just want to shake all 3 of them--Allison, Jackal, and Zeke! I was laughing the end of the last chapter, Kanin finally showing how annoyed he was getting! (hide spoiler)]

I agree. Although I should've known she would've, Kagawa did such an amazing job of making you feel like she would!

HA! They are nonstop! They all stay very true to character. I'm on page 220, fell asleep midway through the chapter LOL (view spoiler)[It is SO PAINFUL watching her try to reconnect with Zeke in some meaningful way. I am the type of person who is an open book emotionally (most of the time), and I hate when someone doesn't give me the same thing back. I prefer to get things out on the table and hash them out, not bottle things up inside, so I can totally relate to her frustrations. (hide spoiler)]

I agree David, it makes me feel so bad for her. (view spoiler)[I'm the same way. And then you have that added to the fact that she thought he was DEAD, and now she has a second chance with him, but its really not going well at all! But in Zeke's defense: I can't imagine how it would feel to wake up and realize you've killed innocent children in cold blood. That would be pretty hard to come back from. Even when the whole thing isn't really his fault in my eyes, I blame Sarren. (hide spoiler)]

When I did a Nighttime tag video last year, one of the things was "Fictional Monsters you would not want under your bed" and I picked Sarren.

I haven't read any more, so you surpassed me :) But I will read some a little later tonight.

Yeah, true, it's not his fault AT ALL. The way she describes the urges and the monster inside is so creepy. LOL about not wanting Sarren under your bed...good choice!

Very true! I stopped last night at Part 3, or page 284.

(view spoiler)[ The van "trap" was pretty gruesome and low, and it does make me worry a bit what Zeke will be like when he meets Sarren again. I'm so glad that Zeke and Allie FINALLY talked (and lots more!) and thought it was absolutely hilarious that it was Jackal giving relationship advice! I expected Kanin to smooth things over more between them, but I guess brutal honesty is what they needed! I almost kept reading last night, even though I was about falling asleep, because I want to know WHAT is going to happen on this island! My guess with Caleb and Bethany is that Sarren has them as hostages. (hide spoiler)]

Awesome, I'm mid-chapter on page 306. I completely agree about your prediction for Caleb and Bethany. All the other tragedies were pretty rough though :( Yeah, Zeke is pretty much back to his normal self, good to see! That was a brilliant (and gruesome) attack by Sarren on the island, I could picture it all in my head *shivers* Those rabids seem much scarier than zombies!

OMG YES about the rabids! I'm so glad those things are fictional (and they better stay that way!!) I didn't get any reading time in at all today, it was a very busy, but happy day :) I'm guessing the next time I pick this up I will probably finish, hoping tomorrow to have time!

I didn't read last night as I was still trying to hit my goal for GoTs. But I read a little this morning, just a chapter and a half. I'm at page 332. (view spoiler)[The new and "improved" rabids are even MORE creepy, which I didn't think was possible! I really like the fact that every time you think they're about to catch Sarren, he just gets away and has something even worse planned, very hard to predict!

Oh and...she and Jackal BOTH got bitten! ACK! Things are NOT looking good, like at all. (hide spoiler)]

Those "new" rabids were INSANE!!! I agree, The entire trilogy is that way--just when you think you've got it figured out, or can see the light at the end of the tunnel--BAM!--another, even more terrible thing happens!!

I just finished it!! :) SO GOOD!!!! This is DEFINITELY my fave vampire series EVER!! Some AmAZING revelations by the end, and I seriously did not see any of them coming! I'll chat about it more with you after you finish :)

Since I am watching GoT I don't want to read it till it is over. I read the first book and half of the second but I just love the excitement of anticipation and the surprise of what will happen week to week. I also don't read the books of my other favorite show, The Walking Dead. But will read books when GoT is done. I hate waiting a week to watch more. I think TV will have to offer all the seasons to watch like Netflix, eventually.
Well this is more than I have written here for ages, maybe ever, LOL.

LOL!!! It's easy to do! I always have so many threads open I'm surprised I don't confuse them more often.

In any case, I'm really enjoying reading GoTs, and I'm finally catching up to the show (but not quite yet). The show is SO WELL DONE compared to the book. It's awesome to see such an amazing adaptation.
