Welcome to the A Curious Beginning Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on June 11th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

Hey hey! I got started with this yesterday so I'm actually like a day ahead. I really love the beginning so far. Veronica is so sassy. I often struggle with any historical settings, I don't know why. But this has been a good first little chunk! The banter between Veronica and Stoker is already top tier. I've heard from people who are further ahead in the series (and there are what--7? 8 books?) that it's one heck of a slow burn

Okay - I am so behind on all my reading BUT I got through chapter 6 and I am really enjoying this! I am liking the writing - for historical fiction it is very readable and yet also appropriate (mostly) to the time I think. I also really like the banter between Veronica and Stoker. I also heard it was a slow burn and I am so curious to see how that plays out! I am curious about the mystery to see what happened and why we are here lol

That was an interesting thing to learn about myself. lol I wonder how far away we'll get from the mystery at hand (or really from the beginning with the home invasion thing) before we circle back. Yes I was giggling at the circus. It felt so out of left field and absurd in the best way.

Okay - I flew threw the last couple parts last night. I am excited to discuss! I definitely enjoyed this one.

I finished it yesterday!! I thought it was very sillygoofy, but also I GASPED when her father was revealed. Like???? Secret princess Veronica Speedwell???

I just read this in January and was delighted by it. Glad you all enjoyed too! The second one was just as fun and I'm excited to keep reading the series.

Very much Princess Diaries vibes! I was so surprised but also shocked that she was essentially - nah I'm good lol
