Mr Chapman has already made a promising entry into crime with One Jump Ahead, featuring that tough freelance journalist, Rex Banner, and his glamorous girl-friend Maxine. Crime On My Hands finds them up to their necks and at times over their heads - in trouble again.
It all began apparently quite accidentally, when Maxine on a borrowed bicycle was nearly killed by a car that failed to pull up in the drowsy Sussex lanes. There appeared to be something mysterious about the imposing mansion nearby, country home of the eminent K.C., Sir Edward Harome.
Rex Banner, plunging into the mystery, soon found that danger was also lurking there. Before long he was stumbling over corpses as well as clues to a plot that accelerates like a racing car to a crashing climax.
