Elizabeth Pantley | 61 comments Hi Librarian ~

I expanded a Novella into a full book, which now becomes BOOK 5 in a series of 8. This changes the numbers on books 5,6,7,8 - we have new book covers that show the new numbers. I want to KEEP all the reviews!

ALL the books have been updated on Amazon including the covers.

I updated some with no issues. However the option to make an alternate cover edition for books 5 and 8 are not present, and when trying to delete and reupload the cover of the current edition, it says we do not have permission.

The two that need updating here on Goodreads are -

Genies & Gibberish – WAS a novella – NOW is Book 5 --

Meditation & Mischief -

Can you please help?
Thank you,

Scott | 9168 comments To make an alternate cover edition, the source edition must have an ISBN or ASIN. We do NOT delete any covers.

Elizabeth Pantley | 61 comments I don't understand. It's the same book, ONLY the Series Number changed. Amazon updated their pages. Why can't we replace the existing covers with the revised ones?

If not, I don't want to create brand new pages and lose our current reviews, so I would leave it as it. But it's a bit confusing to new readers.

Can you please let me know what to do now?

Thanks,
Elizabeth ~

Because this is Goodreads, not Amazon. We want to be able to log the edition we actually read.

You won't lose any reviews. They appear on all editions.

No, it really isn't. We understand that books go through different printings and might look different. Really we do.

Scott | 9168 comments Alternate cover editions are created when the ISBN or ASIN is to be moved to a new edition, so it has to be done on an edition that has either of those. If that isn't the situation, then just create a new edition.
