Welcome to the Psyche and Eros Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on June 8th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

Hey Hafs! Sorry, I've had a late start on the book but so far I'm enjoying it. For some reason I kept putting it off (the hardest part for me is always starting lol) but now I'm kind of kicking myself in the shins because it's good??? I wish I would've started it sooner! like, I don't know what I was expecting but I fell in love with the writing and maybe it's just because it's Greek mythology but it has some sort of romantic feel to it...idk hard to explain lol.

Chapters 1-5(ish): (view spoiler)[ I'm enjoying seeing Psyche grow up and being trained like a boy (hooray for breaking gender roles!), and fight for her place in the world--I'm so glad to see her father didn't cast her off at birth. Her interactions with Atalanta are very interesting to me and I'm wondering how much of an impact she will make in Psyche's life. Eros pov is my fave of the two though. I like seeing the Greek gods come about and enjoy seeing their squabbles from a so-called "neutral" party. Wondering how Psyche and Eros will eventually join up though. (hide spoiler)]

not at all!! I had to put it down at chapter 15 but I'll be back to it as soon as possible!! I forgot to update so far but I agree about breaking gender roles (but also who decided using a bow and arrow is for men??? lol)

So I've caught up to today's chapters, (what even is sleep, amirite) and things have turned complicated to say the least lol. I feel bad for Psyche because Eros is being deceitful when it comes down to it. I get why they can't see each other but even just explaining the curse to her would be better than all the lies in my opinion.

But after they were ripped apart I couldn't help but feel sad for both of them. it was nice that Psyche got to see Atalanta during her last days of life, but I'm wondering how everything else will come about. like, how will Psyche's parents react when she returns home? Will they accept the baby? Will Eros and Psyche ever see each other again? so many questions!! (hide spoiler)]

HER PARENTS ARE DEAD??? and bc I've read my fair share of Greek tragedies I already saw Iphigenia's death coming. With Atalanta gone (or going) and Eros imprisoned she's technically alone :( (hide spoiler)]

also really interesting to see Aphrodite's portrayal here I always thought of her as soft and unbothered nonchalant even but here she's neither of these things. If anything she's in everyone's business more than Zeus lol

I have a couple chapters to go and I'm so tired of it??? I was so hooked in the beginning now I'm just like okay can we get it over and done with I have a feeling the rating will drop significantly by the time I get to the end :(

I ended up finishing this and I was so right?? the ending was just an ending it didn't wow me it was a typical and they lived happily ever after type of thing :/

I honestly feel this. I read 60% of it and haven't picked it back up for a little over a week now lmaooo. Not sure if I'll finish it but will update here if I do!
