Q: Does a book about a poet (and it includes quite of few of his writings), who is also an addict/alcoholic, count for prompt 1c about a writer? The book in question is Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar. TIA.
For "Let's go on a hike" A, can there be a structure on the cover, as long as there aren't any people?
I'm wondering about:
Thanks.

I've got a question about the prompt "involving an ancient civilization". I'm reading The Lost Sisterhood (2014) by Anne Fortier. It's a dual timeline book. One timeline is modern day scientists (including archeologists) following the trail of 'ancient treasure'. The other timeline is set around the time of the Trojan War (1300ish B.C.E.) and features Agamemnon and Paris as historical characters (as well as Amazons). Each timeline is approximately 50% of the book. Both timelines have our characters bopping around the Mediterranean -- including modern day Algeria, Crete, Greece, Turkey -- and interacting with the civilizations at those locations. Would that count for the prompt?? Thanks
re: a book under a pen name, I only learned this summer while rereading a fave that The Bell Jar was published under another name originally, as Sylvia Plath didn’t think it was “literary” enough! so used that for the pen name prompt!!
finishing two books for the last of the August prompts, as trying to complete every prompt of this challenge, but don’t have any books set for these three that I’m missing… I’m going to try to read the Booker Longlist (only have read James so far) that was announced this week, so Orbital by Samantha Harvey might fit one of the first two tho waiting on my copy to arrive…any favorites read for any of these three??
July, 2a: Book Set in Space
July, 2b: Book with Moon on the Cover
July, 4a: Book with Dog on the Cover
(as a proud dog mom to a sweet golden retriever, a little annoyed that I don’t have any books with a dog on the cover in my long tbr shelves!! :)

Kendra wrote: "Does anyone have any recs for books published in the 60s?"I'm planning to read Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys...supposed to tell the story if what happened to Jane Eyre's Mrs. Rochester. It's really a novella. As an added bonus she is from South America so I can use it for another challenge I'm doing asking for an author/book from South America.

We Are Legion (We Are Bob) if you'd like humour
If you'd like something by one of the first women to publish scifi that went big, this is also set in space Falling Free
y/a Across the Universe
I've read so very many, but these are three good ones, but none of these is hardcore scifi which is better for more serious scifi readers, IMO.

I'd say yes, given the darkness around it and that you can see stars.

Thank you!
I have done 35/36 of the prompts and now have a nature cover left. Anyone have a recommendation preferably a shorter book. I read a lot of SFF so that’s why it’s a harder prompt for me.

. Definite nature cover and a pretty short quick read - a small group of people get stranded in the wilderness for a survival show. Interesting dynamics among them. A 3.5 star read for me, so not something I'd normally recommend highly, but it fits your criteria!

It's over 300 pages, so not super short, but it might be more up your normal reading alley.
Elizabeth Moon
for a better view
For a book in the 60's I used Mary Poppins. For nature cover with no people I used the latest Newberry winner The Eyes and the Impossible...bonus it has a dog on the cover.
