SOLVED. YA/ Childrens Fantasy from late 1990s to early 2000s about a boy and a magic school (Not HP or Charlie Bone). [s]

I've been wracking my mind, trying to think of a book series that I read in middle school, but I dont have many details. I do remember that the main character was a boy who played soccer in a normal world, but had some sort of magical powers and attended some kind of magic school. I dont think his parents knew? I remember in one of the books he had sprained his ankle playing soccer and was in an air cast for a bit. I also remember that at the end of the last book, there was a kind of graduation ceremony and the headmaster/Dumbledore type character gave each kid a specific character a power. One student (I think it was a girl, might have been the main character) had the ability to create worlds in bubbles, but they only thrived as long as they could pay attention to it.

I wish I remembered more details. I appreciate any help you all have.
