We get Lanny’s point of view and even though she fully understands, and believes, Mel is a monster, she still has strong memories of him as her Dad. She was ten years old to fully comprehend everything he’d done and is horrified when she recalls details. Do you understand her inner conflicts or is it difficult to comprehend? Your thoughts?

I think any ten-year-old child would have a very difficult time knowing that their dad, who seemed loving at home, was a true monster. It would be hard to cut out the memories from the realities, as even an adult might have difficulty with this.

Yes, I do understand her inner conflicts as it is a difficult task to have to reconcile that your parent, that has shown you only love and kindness, is actually a monster. Her thoughts and behavior are normal as she processes her trauma. Then add she has to do all of this while on the run/in hiding/while also doing her best to be what Connor needs as his big sister/worrying for her mother/school etc.

That is a lot to have to navigate.
