Dune itself was brilliant.

It's a bigger part of the next book - at least so far. I'm just a couple chapters into Heretics. But I didn't really get it either in this one except as a way to highlight the risks of not being able to move on or let go of the past?

Olga Yolgina | 589 comments With Herbert, I don't exclude that there is some hidden meaning in everything Leto does. I'm just exasperated that there are too few tips as to what these meanings are.
I feel a bit disappointed that I don't get to find out this particular thing in God Emperor.

I do enjoy the dialogues in this book though.

Sarah Connell (sarahconnell) | 315 comments It is exasperating at times. I'm wondering if Chapterhouse wraps it all up nicely? But I somehow doubt it ;P

I think Dune and Dune Messiah were brilliant, Children of Dune and God Emperor of Dune are very interesting, but all the following books (especially those not written by Frank Herbert himself) are much worse.
