Ah well , I read around 20 pages...

It started off with a guy called Lenk Skeltish, what a funny name. He's too worried about his trainer, a yoga teacher having a nose whistle. Like literally 2 pages about her nose whistle when he's supposed to be breathing & meditating...
Anyway he's some kind of self made man. Fantail and it's offshoots.

Zimmi N, another who's fucking his wife and thinking about handing her divorce papers.

Ellen Bywater. Seriously? Bywater, what is this ?!
She's talking to her dead husband will, some kind of apparition? He's dead and she's conversing? Is it like some talk to the dead/image/something similar to that black mirror episode or she's doing all this in her head?

Hey,
I finished reading 1st part. Same as the 20 pages you have mentioned.
Nothing interesting so far. I hope 'the end of the world' is something impactful and not just a world tech and economic crises (considering the background of the 3 characters.)
And I am trying to ignore inconsistent punctuation.

I'm not too enticed with the way this premise has started. It's like it's not consistent is what I feel. Some sexual tension of Zhen after being almost murdered.

Some borrowed plot point where a couple of Uber rich people are making safe havens for themselves and leaving the masses to face the harsh consequences of the world.
How is this any different from the real world???

Add in some convoluted names, topics/points to make it more sci-fi is the feeling I'm getting...

It reminds me of that novel by Sidney Sheldon, the weather control device part... Something similar.

I am so far in the ending chapters of Part 2, similar to 50ish pages.

@Nathan -Those are two different timelines, 'Some sexual tension of Zhen after being almost murdered.' And wherever it is leading I feel it's too dragged.
-The whole world is preparing for apocalypse yet the world building for the said emergency/apocalypse has unclear beginning.
-As much as I want to know what kind of 'end of the world' it is going to be, I am loosing motivation continue...

Yeah, its kinda dragging too much and even im not getting the feel of the book. Some unecessary info dump. This really doesn't give me the feeling of Sci-Fi, but sadly GR people have voted this book as the best Sci-Fi of 2023.

Thus I will probably read a 100 more pages and then decide if I want to continue or DNF this.

The very reason I can't follow popular books, even movies/series for that matter. I subconsciously tend to not go with hyped titles.

I guess I will do that too, complete this part 1 and then see if it is worth continuing or not.

I've been occupied a lot these 2 weeks. Couldn't read much. I'll update soon. I'll try to complete a bit and see where I stand.

Adding this book to DNF pile. Really boring. Too much convolution.
