message 7: by Len (new)

Len | 51 comments I feel almost ashamed to admit it. It was Deathworld 1 by Harry Harrison. One of the English teachers brought in a selection of paperbacks to encourage us to read more. We all ignored Graham Greene, T.H. White, Aldous Huxley, and goodness knows who else. Deathworld and The Day of the Triffids were the only ones we all enjoyed.

message 45: by Lucky (new)

Lucky | 12 comments I loved Heidi as a child, but as I got older, I adored Piers Anthony's books.

message 47: by Morgan (new)

Morgan Rose | 89 comments If you count The Crucible(it’s written as a play) that’s my favorite. The thing about school especially my Senior year is that they didn’t have us read To Kill a Mockingbird(on my TBR), Frankenstein, Of Mice and Men,etc. We watched the movies instead and I really was disappointed cause I wanted to explore classics that everyone usually reads. Sure, watching the movies were easy but I think having to read the words on page and put the pieces together in your head is special.

message 48: by Doris (new)

Doris (dorisb) | 104 comments The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. Published 1961. I had to give a book report in 8th grade, and used this book. Sadly, the teacher hated the book. Also sad that she didn't give instructions on creating a book report.
