The outsiders by S. E. Hinton and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck are two of the books I read in High School that stayed with me well into my adulthood.
I read a lot in school, both required and books of my own choosing from the library. Most of the required ones I dreaded more than actually going to school lol, but I liked a few! Favorite required: The Witches
Favorite choosing: Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard
I had to read a lot my senior year because I was in Advanced Placement, but the only 2 books that I remember liking was Hamlet and Catcher in the Rye.
Stranger in a Strange Land, by Robert HeinleinKindred, by Octavia Butler
Where the Sidewalk Ends, by Shel Silverstein
Of Mice and Men, and The Peart, by Shel Silverstein
Everything by Judy Blume
The Tell Tale Heart, by Edgar Allen Poe
Whew ...that was just too many years ago to remember. I remember the first thriller (horror) novel I read was .... 🦈 Jaws. I think I was in 6 or 7th grade. It scared me to death, but I remember it well. 📚
Oh so many! And great books on everyone's list.I do remember loving to go to the school library in early grade school and would always pick out the next in series:
The Munch Bunch by Barrie and Elizabeth Henderson
When I got into chapter books, then narrowed down favorites would probably be:
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Silver Chair by C. S. Lewis
The NeverEnding Story by Michael Ende
The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
The Indian in the Cupboard by Lynne Reid Banks
Moby-Dick by Herman Melville
The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien
When we got to "free read" in class as designated reading time to read whatever we wanted I enjoyed:
Sweet Valley Twins by Francine Pascal
Nancy Drew by Carolyn Keene
I did a book report in 9th grade on the novelization of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers... Got an A!
I read purple hibiscus last year and it was so so good! I bought another book by the same author for this summer :)
I had a lot that I liked but my ultimate favorite had to be The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. I loved the analogies and hidden meanings in it. I definitely recommend everyone at least read it once!
If it counts, I really enjoyed The Crucible(it’s technically a play) and The Hunger Games. My high school didn’t seem to enjoy classics cause we would watch movies based on the books instead of actually reading them.
I got to read a darker shade of magic by ve Schwab for a school assignment. I get to read a lot of cool books at school! Also one last stop by Casey mcquiston
Of the ones I was required to read in high school, my favorite was The Scarlet Letter. Otherwise I really didn't have a favorite but enjoyed romance a lot.
