Asher Ellis (angeldustreads) | 2 comments I read this book in my school years around 2012-2014, it was in the school library but I remember it being quite a dark book and I remember the main character being pregnant and she ran away from home (or she was an orphan I don't 100% remember). A woman finds her and offers her a place to stay. I'm sure the woman was a nurse or a nun. I don't remember which. I do recall the main character being in a cafe at the start of the book.
The home is housing pregnant girls until their baby is due and it takes a twist because the main character realises something is going on and something is very wrong. I want to say the nurses were actually killing the babies but again I don't remember 100% but it was something dark and horrible that was happening. Either they were killing the babies or they were killing the mothers and selling the babies. I guess it was almost like a cult. I remember the main character trying to get away from the house and getting lost in it and there was a fire. I'm pretty sure the main character did manage to escape with her baby.
I want to note that the title MUST have been similar to 'Rosemary's Baby' because I have a vivid memory of telling my mother what I was reading at school and if she had heard of it and she replied "do you mean Rosemary's Baby?" but I know it wasn't that. I haven't read that book but I'm sure it has a different storyline? (I did look it up and it didn't seem familiar to me at all). If I remember anything else I will add to this!
