C.J. Aralore (cjaralore) | 13 comments Because I'd read the Hunger Games books, I gave it a try, but I couldn't connect to it. It felt like a chore to read and finish. I didn't feel anything for Coreolanus like I did Katniss or that sense of injustice the trilogy had. Though, there were some parts that I found interesting in a worldbuilding sense.

Bella(✨❤️Hopeful Romantic❤️✨) | 251 comments I liked it. It took me a while to get into it but then I rly liked it bcuz if the history and it made sense and now it’s one of my faves

message 3: by Julia (new)

Julia | 4 comments I thought it definetly wasn't as good as the trilogy but it was an interesting story. I didn't really love any of the characters tho so I only gave it 3 stars

message 4: by Morgan (new)

Morgan Rose | 89 comments I really liked it. I thought it was interesting it was about young president snow and I was hoping the author wasn’t trying to make him redeeming cause I knew in the back of my mind, he’s not a great person.

Carolina Farahay | 1 comments I read the hunger games multiple times when I was younger, and I loved the new book. Different take and interesting to see some connections, worth the read in my opinion.

Reader | 35 comments I thought it was really good. it cleared up some questions and also made more questions.

Violet Sorrengail | 66 comments I couldn't get past the 4th chapter tbh. I dnf :(

becs | 178 comments okayI'll be real I didn't even finish the book YET but I watched the movie and I will admit the idea of it is really cool

message 9: by jay (new)

jay (planetoflove) | 6 comments boring and unnecessary. i don’t think anyone asked for snow’s backstory. yes it added a bit of context as to why he specifically hated katniss so much (he would’ve hated her anyways) but it didn’t add anything to the story of the hunger games as we know it. snow has been like that his entire life. big whoop. i was really disappointed in it.

message 10: by Amber (new)

Amber Gray | 9 comments I personally enjoyed it as it gave me an overview of what panem was like just after the first rebellion and I thought it allowed me to understand why Snow acted the way he did and his continuation of the games. the only thing for me was the fact that we never actually knew what happened to Lucy Gray and it would be nice to know her fate

brittnreads | 17 comments I absolutely loved it! I know that's not the common opinion but I loved having some background to the Hunger Games novels. I found it hard to put down and just had to know what was happening. I loved Lucy Gray's character and hated not knowing what happened to her. I had such satisfaction knowing that Lucy wrote the Hanging Tree song and that she taught Snow about the katniss flower. I can't express how much "hell yeah" I felt knowing that a girl named Katniss signing the Hanging Tree took him down LOL

message 12: by Eli (new)

Eli | 74 comments LOVED IT!! One of my fav books ever and i think ab it constanrly

message 13: by Sean (new)

Sean Brewer | 79 comments It was good and provided a good back story for Snow. However I wasn’t a fan of it as I was The Hunger Games trilogy.

message 14: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 42 comments really loved it. the way it was written is just the type of storytelling I adore. and it was interesting to see HOW ambitious snow actually was

message 15: by Kie (new)

Kie (kie06) | 96 comments it wasn't as good as the original trilogy, but i enjoyed reading the paralells and getting an insight on Panem years before the 74th hunger games

message 16: by Colleen (new)

Colleen Shirley (casblessed) | 16 comments I loved it. I'm a huge Hunger Games fan, even though I'm not even close to the target demographic. I thought the back story for Snow was well done, as well as the information on how the Hunger Games and mentors got started.

message 17: by John (new)

John Sturges | 20 comments I wish I didn't read it. However, it is realistic in that "young love" often is just infatuation or experimental-(trying to figure out how to do relationships)or maybe just being enamored with being in love. Real love is not just a feeling that can change but instead sacrificial & tangible (seen through action).

message 18: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Rivera | 51 comments I personally like getting the back story to a book that I've previously read and enjoyed so I found this book to be good. Maybe not as good as the original books but I liked it.

message 19: by Nat (new)

Nat | 143 comments I thought it was a ridiculously powerful prequel. One I couldn’t put down and left me reeling for days afterwards. Suzanne Collins is frankly brilliant and I believe her stories will last a very long time. The Ballad is something that just enhances all of the hunger games for me, the way she weaves the background in seamlessly and how it just makes the hunger games that much more powerful. Stories always start somewhere.

message 20: by Tracy (new)

Tracy Shields | 27 comments I really didn't enjoy it, but did anyone else ever think that maybe Lucy Gray is Katniss' grandmother? Another reason for Snow to hate Katmiss.

message 21: by Samdisha (new)

Samdisha | 68 comments boring ...

message 22: by Katarina (new)

Katarina | 19 comments The book was a snooze fest

message 23: by Edward (new)

Edward Allen | 6 comments It was okay, but not the best book in The Hunger Games series.
