Diana Hryniuk | 883 comments I usually avoid retellings of my favorite stories, but Sherlock Holmes is so ubiquitous that I couldn't resist trying out a few.

Turning Sherlock into a woman added a refreshing twist. It added more challenges to the detective's life compared to the original stories. While the beginning of the plot was a bit slow, once "Sherlock" dove into solving the case, the pace picked up, and I found myself unable to put the book down.

I didn't notice many direct parallels with the original characters until after I finished reading, which I found cleverly done. The characters were well-developed, and I found myself genuinely caring about them. Plus, the romantic subplot added an extra layer of intrigue that I enjoyed.

Since this book is the first in a series, there was a lot of setup, with some names and events only briefly mentioned. But I think these will be more deeply explored in the next parts of the series.
