Wini Fara (winifara) Thriftbook.com and sometimes your local library will sell used books at a large discount and they may even have a freebie shelf.

-there are sites online where you can buy used books for discounted prices

message 7: by Wini (new)

Wini Fara (winifara) Also eBay and Amazon used books.

message 8: by Wini (new)

Wini Fara (winifara) Thrift stores usually sell used books and some thrift stores have a reward system. Some places will have special sale days. Also at Goodwill you can look for tags that match the color of the week and you will get half off. They also sell books. Not just in person but online as well.

Kristin | 1 comments Google library book sales for your area. Books are cheapest there, I find. You can also get new books that are hugely discounted on BookOutlet.com.

I echo others advice of Getting used books on Amazon and Ebay and also suggest AbeBooks.com.

Thrift stores are also a great resource, and Facebook Marketplace. Summer is coming too so hit up the garage sales. Good luck!

Your husband seems to hate reading. On the other hand, who does not hate Amazon? I do.

Cassidy | 347 comments search for thrift store or used book stores in your area! There’s a used book store in my local library, the books are like new and around $5 only 🥹

Bookoutlet.com is great, it’s like TJMaxx of the book world; they’re always rotating overstock books.

Blackwells UK has cheap books as well!

mireya grasso ₊˚ෆ | 5 comments i use bookshop.org, it's not that much cheaper but it's something. i believe they are under Amazon (you don't need an Amazon acc to use) so if you are happy with the quality of Amazon books, try it. I don't think they have Kindle tho

Alex (informal-library) | 22 comments - betterworldbooks.com
- Pango Books App
- thriftbooks.com
- bookoutlet.com
- blackwells.co.uk (good sales primarily and can get uk editions)

If your US based you can do - "county name" library sale - local libraries tend to rotate our books annually if not more for super cheap

amazon used section and other second hand selling sites + local thrifts stores or goodwills

also in general keeping an eye out for sales Target and Walmart do digital sales fairly frequently

Citlalli | 10 comments If you’re US based:
I know thrift stores have cheap books! Of course there’s not a lot of options but you may find some good books if you look!

I also see a lot of people selling on Facebook marketplace lol oooh maybe some neighborhoods near you have free little libraries you can try?

Walmart has popular books that are definitely a lot cheaper than places like b&n.

message 40: by Eli (new)

Eli | 79 comments TikTok shop
Library
School library
Thrift store
Sale aisle in bookstores
Given from other readers in the family/friends books
Ebooks. A kindle is a good investment
Free little libraries, check if your local neighbourhood has one. Don’t forget to leave a book at a place like that! :)

Charity (TAKING A BREAK) | 81 comments Free:
Your local library! Most libraries have physical and digital reads.
Libby - you can use this with your library card(s)
cloudlibrary - I'm still new to this but I use my library through this site. I'm unsure if you can use this without.
Internet Archives - I use this to read the Fear Street series.

I also use something called Freebooksy that sends me an email of when a free book in genres I choose is available.

Cheap:

SALES - Browse local book sales in your area. Big Garage Sales or stores that are closing/getting rid of inventory knock down prices to get rid of things faster.
Thrift Stores - tend to be cheaper than Barnes n Noble and Book a Million.
Ebay - Use copies that are in good condition usually are cheaper than buying new. (Not always though.)
Digital Buys - This doesn't apply for every digital book, but most e-books (Amazon/Google Play Books) are cheap. Not the cheapest, but cheap.
Kindle Unlimited Subscription on Amazon - $12 a month to read books. There's a limit to how much you can keep in your Kindle Library, but there's no limit to how much you can read in a month.

Other Options:

Sometimes I use the community page on Facebook to ask if anyone is trying to get rid of any kind of books. I keep what I like and donate to local libraries or ask family/friends if they want the rest. There are a few times people just want to get rid of clutter and will give their stuff away for free. (or a $1 a book.)
